Tomb Raider Teams Up With Geocaching.com

Geocaching, for the unaware, is location-based, real-world treasure hunting based on GPS coordinates and exploration. Crystal Dynamics recently teamed up with Groundspeak to create a series of Tomb Raider-themed Geocaching activities.

"Through several initiatives over the coming year, Crystal Dynamics and Geocaching.com will team up to create a series of unique location-based adventures embodying the spirit of Tomb Raider and Lara Croft’s drive to become an explorer. To develop these adventures, Crystal Dynamics will use both the traditional Geocaching.com treasure hunting format as well as Groundspeak’s latest photo-based adventure project, Geocaching Challenges."

There aren't any details about what exactly these challenges will entail, but hopefully they won't require gun battles with wolves or dinosaurs.

Tomb Raider is set to release late in 2012 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

    I love geocaching! It's great if you have kids or young relatives. I have yet to have a gun battle with wolves, though. Fingers crossed!

    Here's to hoping that there are gun battles with wolves and a T-Rex, lol.  This sounds really fun, I need to check out Geocaching.

    Man, Kyle, you have no sense of adventure! There should be wolves everywhere! Dinosaurs should be exclusive to islands.

    I hope they take out the golden glow of all the puzzles in this game. It's just way too obvious what to do..it's like these developers think were all idiots.

    This is the first time I've ever heard of geochaching but it sounds awesome. Tomb Raider needs to come out already by the way. Feel like I've been waiting a lifetime.

    I remember Geocaching back when I was growing up. Bringing a fun item to put in whatever cache ya found & signing your name in a booklet. They were a ton of fun,scavenger hunts with em & much more. Great idea for Tomb Raider.
