The Coolest Way To Play Mega Man 2: With A Live Band

Having watched my talented co-worker Tim Turi play Mega Man games before, I know how incredible a human can be at challenging old NES games. But even Tim has never had a run quite this incredible.

At this year's MAGFest (Music and Gaming Festival), talented gamer Noah McCarthy took the stage with the band Bit Brigade. While Noah flew through Mega Man 2, the band played a rock reimagining of the game's fantastic soundtrack live and in tempo with the levels.

Check out the full 45-minute video below and weep at the unlikeliness of your personal gaming sessions ever resembling something this awesome.

  • My god...I .....I can't even....*begins sobbing uncontrollably*
  • Thats... pretty beyond impressive, actually. I wish I had a band playing songs behind me while I played. Could you imagine playing a horror game and hearing the soundtrack being played behind you?
  • that band rocks. I wish i knew how to put my letters together in to rock hands.
  • dang that kid's good!

  • Noah is now one of my heroes. It is on my bucket list to fully complete an NES game
  • That is just pure awesome. XD

  • wicked.

Sadly, I wish the guitarist wasn't in the way so I could actually see the game

Did Tim fall over dead when he saw this? Or did he demand the controller from the guy playing MM2?
  • :|

I was expecting something epic about The Protomen, but I guess this is alright.

  • If I ever had a Make-a-Wish foundation request to send out, this might very well be the one.  :)

  • dang, he's good.

  • Who's better,the guitarist or the gamer?
  • This is like something Jesus would get tim turi for his birthday!

  • I've beaten every Mega Man on NES and I'm not half as good as that kid.

  • :___;

  • Epic.

  • That was the most amazing thing ever. I highly applaud both the band for their excellent tempo upkeep and the young man who beat the game in 45 minutes.
  • amazing

  • I watched the whole thing...THAT WAS AWESOME!!!

  • Another example of why games just used to be better. Just look at what this game inspired in people... listen to it's music. We have nothing like this today, NOTHING. 15 years from now not a single game from this last (supposedly epic) holiday release will be remembered or cared about. No one will play Skyrim or CODMW4 in front of any audience, nor will they have a band lead their way.

    It's kind of depressing.
  • That was amazing. I played Megaman 2 and kept dying on the level with the lasers that fly from off the screen and one hit kill you. Watching this kid makese me want to go back and try to beat it again.
