Killzone Coming To PSN

[Update] Sony confirmed to Game Informer it will release Killzone on PlayStation Network. The game will cost $9.99 and release on January 24. This is a port of the original PlayStation 2 title.

[Original Story]
It seems the first Killzone title will soon be making its way to PlayStation 3. The Entertainment Software Ratings Board recently published a rating for the game for PS3, which typically signals its eventual release.

It's unlikely this is a complete "remaster" of the original PlayStation 2 version, but instead simply a digital title of the original available through PlayStation Network. Sony began selling PlayStation 2 titles last October through its "Only on PSN" program.

We reached out to SCEA for additional information and we'll update this post if we hear back.

  • Sold! Easily my fav fps of all-time! I'd gladly pay $60 for an HD remake

  • I would buy it. I am just finishing up Killzone 2 and would love to get better insight on the backstory.
  • excellant game, i would gladly buy a remaster/remade version of this game, I LOVE BLASTING SPACE NAZIS!! ITS EVEN BETTER THEN BLASTING REGULAR NAZIS!

  • Still have the original, and my PS3 is backward compatible :D
  • Great!Right?

  • meh

  • Why is it unlikely that this is a remaster? I'd say they're much more likely to do a remake then port the old version, especially with the recent Halo remake on Microsoft's side.
  • This one had much better character dialogue, humor, and general interactions, and story to all the sequels combined.
Look at these short scenes and see what I mean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TtsITnL12M

Diverse squad (instead of all being generic action movie meat-heads), you can play as any of the 4 squad members as you want, IDK why they took this feature away in later games.
  • Not remastered? Pass.

  • I was wondering how long it would take this game to get on PSN. Now, if only they would put up Okami... Y'know what, why can't I play my PS2 games on my PS3 anymore? I mean, clearly it works when I download these PS2 classics?!
  • I'm glad to see Killzone ported. I always wanted to try out the original.

  • I know there are plenty who complain about it but it's still one of my faves between what I think was a compelling story, solid controls and some of the best art design of any sci-fi tale in any medium in a long time.

  • I wish it was in HD..

  • wow really thats cool got to get it

  • Ow my, oh my, oh, my. I've been wanting this for a while now. I'm so going to get it on the 24th.
  • Whaaat. I loved this game and at the time hoped for a sequel on the PS2 but that was before the PS3...
  • Too bad it's not a remake/remaster.  Then they could at least fix that broken AI.  Oh well.  It's a great way for people who don't have a PS2/PS2-capable PS3 to experience the game.  I loved it when I first played it, and I still have my retail copy.

  • If it's the same exact thing as the original, then this is a disappointment.  The original one was annoying to play.  However, if they've fixed the glitches and tweaked the controls, then I many consider getting this.

  • Killzone 1 was comically bad, in my opinion. I felt I wasted $50 when I bought it on day 1.

  • Finally! I was kind of hoping for an HD remaster... but this will definitely do. =)
