The lights are on
Sly PC programmers have been playing around with Microsoft's motion-sensing Kinect device to create interesting PC-powered applications since the device debuted in 2010, but soon Microsoft will support Kinect use on the PC officially.
During Microsoft's final Consumer Electronics Show keynote, CEO Steve Ballmer revealed that the officially supported PC version of Kinect will launch on February 1.
Though Ballmer didn't mention any specifics on pricing, Amazon is listing the device at $249.99. That's not official yet, and we'll update if we hear anything different, but that's a fairly staggering $100 price difference from the 360 version of Kinect.
Fairly certain what they are making is what I would call a port to windows, not a link to the xbox, or a replacement for the xbox...seeing as how the xbox is basically a simple to use version of MS windows anyway, I think the device is just a Kinnect sensor + drivers to allow your PC to become an xbox kinnect in effect. THe extra hundred $ is probably so they do not cannabilize xbox kinnect sales. Xbox IMO is a way for MS to make both console and OS, like Apple does, but they can't just make a box to compete with their own customers, solution? Xbox. JUst my 2 cents I am no pro and this is just my thoughts, not facts...I will say the Xbox is the reason I came back to gaming, it gets one off there butt and doing something physical, way to go! I love the technology, aside from the paranoia of being watched...
So you're just playing Kinect games on the PC? Rip-off.
Microsoft might finally support a PC version but FIRST Robotics is already using it in their competition. =] this thing is so much bigger than the Xbox or PC. Using it to control the movements of ~120lb robots and on the robots themselves. What more will we be able to do with this?
---The future is here! (somewhat)
I just hope this means that more developers will jump on the kinect and make some decent titles for people over the age of 10.
wow. good job.
anyway this is good for everybody~
hhh
It looks great, but i am wondering if girls like it? haha
