Weekend Warrior 01/06/12

by Ben Reeves on Jan 06, 2012 at 01:00 PM

It’s technically the second, but this feels like the first weekend of the New Year, so what will we be doing with all our free time? The same thing we do every New Year, Pinky. The couch isn’t going to sit on itself and play all these games.

Tim Turi: This weekend I’ll be hitting Zelda: Skyward Sword pretty hard. I’m trying to find a bunch of flames to make my sword stronger, or something. All I know is that the game is starting to get really interesting. Complicating the matter is that I’ve recently started playing Pokémon SoulSilver. I never played the second generation of Pokémon games, and I’m definitely hooked. Also, I need to somehow find time to play Star Wars: The Old Republic and go snowboarding.

Jeff Cork: My kids are completely obsessed with Skylanders right now, so I’ll probably spend some time with that game this weekend. Beyond that, my biggest gaming project is organizing my collection. I’ve always had it shelved and alphabetized, but now I’m going to be scanning it into my PC, so I can see what games I already have when I see a bargain in a store. Maybe I’ll blog about it. Exciting!

Kyle Hilliard: I’ve been ignoring my holiday backlog of new video games to revisit the HD classics that came out this year. I’m making my way through Metal Gear Solid 2 in HD, and I hope to be able to finish that up and get started on Snake Eater this weekend. I don’t remember Raiden sounding as much like Matthew Broderick as he does, and I don’t remember Rose being quite as annoying. It also seems like every time she pops on the codec, Raiden has completely forgotten that she was involved in the mission and acts surprised that she is there. I don’t remember that part either.

Phil Kollar: I’m fighting off a cold, so I’m locking myself inside all weekend to play games. I’m mostly working on a verrrrry long review game that I can’t talk about, but I’ll also find time to log into Star Wars: The Old Republic and continue leveling my Imperial Agent. I also need to finish Saints Row 3, but I’m not sure if I’ll have enough free time for that this weekend!

Ben Hanson: The weekend will most likely start with a Rock Band marathon til dawn and I’m hoping that Saturday will be filled with ping-pong and Starcraft 2. There’s a chance I’ll be returning from my self-imposed TOR sabbatical.

Jeff Akervik: The holiday break was not kind to my Skyward Sword progress, so I'm hoping to remedy that this weekend. Toss in the fact that I received both Skyrim and Arkham City for Xmas, and my gaming plate is as full as it's ever been. Heck, I still have the latest Deus Ex to get through, too. Add into the mix the return of college hockey and a Timberwolves squad that has shown its first pulse in over five years and it's highly likely I'll finish the latest Zelda title come Labor Day. Good times.
