These Are The Most Pirated Games Of 2011

TorrentFreak.com listed its most pirated games of 2011 across PC and consoles. There weren't a whole lot of suprises to be had. Crysis 2 led the way on PCs and Gears of War 3 had the most downloads on the Xbox 360. The PlayStation 3 was not mentioned because apparently the system had, "considerably less downloads."

The biggest surprise was the Wii. Super Mario Galaxy 2 topped the list, but that didn't even release this year, and second place went to Mario Sports Mix, which had more than a million downloads. Skyward Sword didn't even make the top 5. Come on people out there stealing Wii games, you need to get on the ball!

  • I got both portal 1 and portal 2 for free from steam. Why would you pirate portal then?
  • ...Mario Sports Mix?
  • If you pirate games you can't complain when developers give PC gamers the after thought, or even more common, ignored all together. As consoles become stronger and stronger this trend will only continue because of these staggering numbers.
  • where are the pirates;)

Happy New Year Everyone on this Site!

    stay classy my friends?)

  • I bet that number would be much higher if it wasn't for Steam.

  • When you pirate I'd think you'd at least want good games...

  • I think pirating new games is stupid! I mean yea Nintendo got all the money out of Fire Red and Leaf Green they are ever gonna get so go bananas and pirate those old school games but come one, it's really not cool to steal that money from those companies.

  • If games were cheaper, there would be less pirates.
  • people that pirate usually never buy games anyway or just want to try the game out before they buy it. doubt it makes much difference to final sales numbers.
  • I wonder if the ps3 had less because of Blu-ray? hrmmm.
  • The popularity of FIFA on these lists suggests to me that *many* of the pirates aren't American. We're not exactly known for our love of the game (that we refuse to call football). And since gamers aren't too big into sports games already...
  • I will admit, I have pirated games before, but just to try them for a while. If I end up liking it, I go out and buy it the next day. Sometimes though, pirating a game is the only way to find it. Some games are extremely rare and can only be found on places like Ebay for ridiculous sums of money.
  • ill be honest, i used to pirate. But after realizing how it only hurts a community that i belong to, robs others of their hard work, and is hypocritical because i want to be a game programmer in the future, i stopped. i uninstalled all of my pirated games and started from scratch. im broke now but i know that ive helped a person in Rockville, MD, Surrey, England, and Alberta, Canada put food on the table. im not asking for redemption or any kind of reward for doing the right thing. but if your pirate reading this, just think about who your hurting next time you download a torrent.
  • Does downloading ROMs for Gameboy Advance and SNES emulators count as pirating?
  • not that bad of numbers

  • Pirating new games is just sad, lazy and all in all pathetic. With just the top 5 games over 3 consoles the estimated total of pirated games is 26,650,000 now multiply that low end for a new game 49.99 even though the majority are the high end 59.99 and that gives you 1,332,233,500 that's over one billion in lost sales for just 15 games! Congratulations losers you're helping kill the next generation of gaming for everyone! But you know FIGHT THE POWER MAN!
  • MW3! MW3!

    (jk...)

  • Wow. I'm tired of people pirating games. If you love games, buy them and support them. The only time I would ever pirate a game is if it's rare, not for retail, or discontinued. At that point it's kind of inevitable if you want to play a game, unless you can wait for a decent port or whatnot. But for MW3 and Gears 3? Come on there are so many copies available new and used. Just man up and buy them if you're a true gamer. There are so many deals out there for people with little money. I know that's a big issue for many gamers. But it still doesn't have to come down to pirating a game.
  • Why in the world would anyone torrent BF3? The singleplayer on that is terrible and bland.
  • Why do people think it's OK to steal games...or anything?? It does not belong to you! You have to buy it like every other normal person out there. People who pirate games should be allowed to play game at all. They don't deserve the title of "gamer". At the very LEAST, why can't they just borrow it from a friend?
