The lights are on
Valve writer Chet Faliszek says fans are being "trolled" by their own community regarding the on-going speculation that the studio may soon announce Half Life 3.
Faliszek refers to the recent VGA appearance of Wheatley from Portal 2, where fans believed the video shown at the awards show contains Half Life 3 clues. "There is no ARG. Wheatley's speech was set in Portal 2 fiction - that is all," he said on the official Steam forums.
"I just want to say this so there is no confusion. This is the community trolling the community nothing more. While it is nice to see people excited about anything [Half Life], I hate seeing people be trolled like this."
So it looks like fans will continue to wait for news. Hey, if you got some extra time on your hands, you can always go up to Valve and protest outside their offices for a free lunch.
I'VE BEEN TROLLED MY OWN PEOPLE!?! there's a troll in all of us I guess ;D
developers always deny the existence of games that they're knee deep into development on. we'll just have to wait and see.
Valve crushing Half-Life 3 rumors is news? I thought people would be used to that by now.
Aw man that sucks, guess we'll get back to waiting our entire lives for it instead of only waiting a couple of years. And if they are making an HL3 I'm hoping that they're also making an Source 2 engine, which would be awesome.
It's too late for hl3 to come out. It's time for hl4.
You got my hopes up by your articles title Jim Reilly, I'd put a curse on you if I knew how. I almost thought this was the the news I had been waiting for, the death or continuation of Half-Life, but it was neither. Thanks anyway I guess.
Nooooo! Let's hope they release something next year.
It will come just not yet. Maybe late next year info will arrive
I'm sure if we give them our free lunches, they might come around.
I would've loved Half Life 3
Free lunch?!?! What do protesters get a free lunch for?
To be completely honest and shed a little bit of light on why Valve may be playing this one so close to the chest would likely because of the enormous leak of resources for Half-Life 2 (during the Beta stage I believe).
As a result Valve opted to cut out entire chunks of content from the game (which you can check out in Gary's mod but none of the event scripting or A.I. is complete IIRC).
Been a huge fan since the original debuted in '97 and yes, it's always a long wait for another installment in the series, even when considering the now defunct episodic model they were going with.
That said, for a flagship series like this I imagine Valve has got some amazing things planned and I do have faith in their ability to deliver.
In the meantime we'll see what happens first HL2:Ep3 Half-Life 3 or Black Mesa Source.
its because they hate you!
did you know that they're actually a bunch of hipsters:
Gabe Newell to the Development staff: " uhg, dude, I don't think trilogies are like, in right now. f*ck Portal 3, Left 4 Dead 3 and Half life 3."
