Valve Squashes Half Life 3 Rumoring

Valve writer Chet Faliszek says fans are being "trolled" by their own community regarding the on-going speculation that the studio may soon announce Half Life 3.

Faliszek refers to the recent VGA appearance of Wheatley from Portal 2, where fans believed the video shown at the awards show contains Half Life 3 clues. "There is no ARG. Wheatley's speech was set in Portal 2 fiction - that is all," he said on the official Steam forums.

"I just want to say this so there is no confusion. This is the community trolling the community nothing more. While it is nice to see people excited about anything [Half Life], I hate seeing people be trolled like this."

So it looks like fans will continue to wait for news. Hey, if you got some extra time on your hands, you can always go up to Valve and protest outside their offices for a free lunch.

See, on one hand I'm thinking they're spending all this time on it/not telling us anything about it to ensure it's a big surprise and as strong a product as possible. At the same time, I can imagine it being built up, in our minds, to being some incredibly vaunted idea that no actual game could live up to.

I'm guessing that they are working on a new engine for the next gen and that is why it is taking so long. If they make it as groundbreaking and great as Half Life 2 was back in 2004, I'll be happy to wait.

Ever since Sony totally lied about their refreshed PS3 with a price drop a couple years I do not trust any developer. I like Halo 4, 343 said it was 360 game, but I still believe it could be a 720 game.

I don't believe it. Media Molecule said the same thing about LBP2 a few months before they announced it just so nobody would expect it. They'r definitely working on it.
