The lights are on
The evidence is pretty thin, but the twitter population seems convinced.
There are only two real pieces of evidence that have lead people to believe that Spark Unlimited is working on Star Wars: Battlefront 3. One, on its website Spark Unlimited lists in its job section that, "We are in production on an unannounced high-profile, popular game sequel for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC release." The other piece of evidence, is that it simply isn't flat out denying that Battlefront 3 is the title it is working on, on twitter. Every inquiry is met with a, "you'll have ask Lucas Arts about its franchises, we're just a developer, not publisher," response.
It's not much to go on, but it's possible.
Spark Unlimited only has a few games under its belt with Call of Duty: Finest Hour, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, and Legendary. It seems more likely that they could be working on a new Call of Duty having experience in the franchise already, but twitter seems to think otherwise. We will know more next year when official announcements start rolling out.
Thanks to Nick for the news tip!

As long as it stays like the leaked footage on You Tube, I'm excited.
I'm not too sure about this. Fall Of Liberty was probably one of dullest shooters I had ever played, and while Legendary wasn't as nearly as bad a game as reviewers made it out to be, it was still far from great.
Granted we have yet to see a demo or a trailer, but considering Spark's previous line up of games, it's hard to be optimistic about this.
This has been going around for about a year. I'm not sure whether I want it to be true or not because I'd really like Battlefront 3 to be great.
This is great news! I still own the first two on my XBOX 360. Been waiting years to hear of something for the third game.
I dont really think so but I guess its possible. Last I seen Rebellion, who were the developers of the PSP Battlefront games, was handed what was left of Battlefront 3 when LuasArts took Free Radical off the project because of the whole bankruptcy thing. They need to just give it back to them and do it right if you go and read all the stuff it was gonna have when Free Radical was doing it and then how much they took out and changed to halfass the game when Rebellion took it it seems stupid. Lets just hope it gets made and fairs better than Lord of the Rings Conquest
I don't get how Battlefront 2 was one of the most successful Star Wars games of all time and It has no sequel. It was bested I believe only by the force unleashed. Does Lucas Arts think it only has the capacity for one good product at a time, I mean they don't even make the games themselves anymore. Sure Pandemic screwed the pooch in completely unrelated endevors but c'mon fans have been screaming for this game. Especially since the originals were great but had spotty network service at best on an older consoles. With XBLA and to a lesser extent PSN having incredible multiplayer service by comparison, why in the name of the "Force" has this not happened yet? Or more importantly from an industry perspective why is no-one trying to make money on this. Just take some pointers from modern iterations of the series that was ripped off(BATTLEFIELD) in the first place to create battlefront, Demmit.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BE TRUE!!!!!
I doubt it will be, but I'm still hoping that this could be Battlefront 3.
That's all extremely circumstantial evidence that proves nothing. Addressing both points:
1)The Spark website announcement of "We are in production on an unannounced high-profile, popular game sequel for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC release". That is such a generic phrase that could be found on any developer's website. Are you guys even checking these things out before running to print?
2)When people pester Spark on twitter if they're making Battlefront 3 and are given the response "you'll have to ask Lucas Arts about its franchises, we're just a developer, not publisher" it's incredible that you automatically assume they're making the game. It's clear from your article - "It seems more likely that they could be working on a new Call of Duty having experience in the franchise already, but twitter seems to think otherwise" - that you didn't research it because people have asked them if they're working on a Call of Duty game and they've given the same exact response, except with Activision in place of LucasArts as the publisher.
It's a generic response when asked about any game because they're under a Non-Disclosure Agreement(NDA) with the publisher. That's why it's infuriating when people keep asking them if they're making Battlefront 3. Do you honestly believe they're going to tell you so they can turn around and get sued and have the project stripped from them? If you asked them if they're making Super Mario World 10 or whatever they'd tell you to contact Nintendo. It doesn't mean they're making that game.
I actually believe that Spark is making it, but only because there's better rumors and evidence to support it i.e., Star Wars references on twitter, "high profile science fiction franchise" on project listing, "if we told you the publisher it would give the game away" on twitter, and the new hires being many ex-LucasArts employees or having Star Wars related experience.
If you care about Battlefront 3 you need to do 3 things: 1)Follow Spark Unlimited on Twitter, 2)regularly visit www.battlefront3.net and 3)watch the TuggieGameReviews on YouTube.
Tricksy, tricksy and false!
Star Wars Battlefront was one of the first video games I ever actually fell in love with. I probably have at least a month of play time on it..Battlefront 2 was even better because they added jedi/extra classes and went in more depth than the first one. If they make a third, i will definitly put money on this game...like a lot of money.
Literally *just* stopped playing Battlefront on my PC to check GI. I cannot begin to describe how much I want a new Battlefront. Star Wars is my heart and soul, and the games were faithful to the license while still being a blast to play. Battlefield 3 is my favorite shooter right now, and I love those epic battles games like this deliver. Seems I attach my hopes to impossible sequels like Battlefront 3, Kingdom Hearts 3, and Half-Life 3. At least ValvE understands stupid DS and PSP releases are NOT enough....
seems like a sliver of hope but ill take it! battlefront 2 was my childhood!
Is it only me that has been waiting for this game since battlefront 2 came up with the heroes/villains characters and hoped they`d be improved and added new characters??
HORRRRY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT
I am all over this! Please, Please, PLEASE be true Spark Unlimited!
As soon as I heard Lucas Arts, I was sold!
I love Battlefront! It's been way too long since a real Battlefront (II).
Please be Battlefront 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!
