Skyward Sword Bug Fix Coming Soon

It appears that nasty game-breaking bug in the The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will soon be exterminated.

Players in Japan can now access The Legend of Zelda Data Restoration Channel through the Wii which will remove the bug. A date for when those of you in North America and Europe will have access to the channel is not yet known.

A Nintendo representative told Game Informer they will make additional announcements when the fix is ready. "We are currently working on preparations for the release of this program. Information on how to download and use it will be made available through support.nintendo.com once the program is ready for release."

  • I don't own the game, what exactly does the bug do?

Edit: Nevermind, just followed the links back to your article on it. Seems like it should be quite an easy thing to fix?
  • Take that Bethesda!
  • Hopefully the WiiU will just have patches instead of downloading a new channel to fix these kind of problems.
  • What about Skyrim they ever gonna fix that or are they going to keep giving it awards?
  • Looks like I'll have to hook my Wii back up the internet soon. I was lucky enough to avoid the bug in question, but I'd like it fixed for future playthroughs.

  • I so want a wii for this game. I'm still waiting on the ps3 fix for Skyrim, just found out I'm one of the unfortunate schmucks who suffers the constant freezing.
  • SKYRIM
  • Pretty quick work on Nintendo's part. I feel wrong comparing it to Skyrim, since Skyrim has a ton of bugs that are much more difficult to pinpoint and fix, but you have to give Nintendo some credit here. Game breaking bug that from what I can tell, is easily avoidable, is already fixed. As for Bethesda, they're just pushing aside the game breaking bugs (certain quests can't be completed) until next year.

  • It's good to see that they are working on a fix to remove the bug.
  • Even though I haven't experienced the glitch myself (despite going to the Desert first on both of my playthroughs) I'll probably still download it just for peace of mind next time.

  • WOW! That's just sad... I read it, and I am so happy my friend convinced me to do Eldin Volcano first!

  • Wooo. less effort on my part.

  • Great that there fixing it I almost went to the desert first thank god I avoided that game breaking glitch
  • Try saying "Zelda Data Restoration Channel" five times fast.
  • skyward sword > skyrim go f*** yourselves bestheda.
  • good that Nintendo is finally making an attempt for a patch. I still don't really understand how the bug can occur... don't you have to do things out of order for it to happen? Also, how do you do things out of order in a Zelda game? things are closed off to you before you can do them...

  • I have yet to pick up the game, but it's good to know the bug will be fixed around the time I plan to buy it. I still can't wait to play, bug or not.
  • I'm glad I read the article on this first, I would have been highly upset if I wouldn't have been able to finish the game. On another note, how does Link in the picture above already have that shield at this point in the game? It cant be the boss rush mode because his sword isn't upgraded...
  • im gonna buy a wii just for this game

  • what bug? i didn't see a bug when i played it
