Kojima's Next Game Will Be Open World

by Jim Reilly on Dec 21, 2011 at 06:49 AM

Details about Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima's next game, Project Ogre, continue to drip out.

In an interview with CNN, Kojima said the new game will leave behind the traditional linear-style gameplay found in his previous works, such as Metal Gear Solid. "The kind of game I'm making is some game that has a very wide entrance, a very open entrance," Kojima said through a translator. "Rather than making something very cinematic, [I plan to] make something very free."

Kojima later described the game as a "very open world where players can wander around and explore freely" and that players "should still be able to find new sights and worthwhile adventures after having played the game for as many as 100 hours."

Last week, Kojima tweeted a couple photos from the project, one depicting a desert combat scene, and the other showing off his new Fox Engine's translucent clothing technique.
