The lights are on
As handheld systems gain more utility and become more powerful, one seemingly important element is getting lost in the equation: battery life. One Japanese gamer decided to take the newest handhelds from Sony and Nintendo and pit them against an older PSP-3000 to see what wins.
You can watch the sped-up video for yourself below, but the results shouldn't be terribly surprising. The 3DS crumbles under the added power drain of its 3D capabilities and is the first to go at around two-and-a-half hours. The PlayStation Vita lasts to a bit under four hours, while the PSP-3000 goes strong right up through the nine hour mark.
Does battery life matter to you when choosing a handheld system? More importantly, does anyone actually keep the 3D turned on for their 3DS all the time?

Great I'm gonna have to keep my Vita tethered to the wall along with my 3DS
No fair! The phone cheated!!
Three hours for the vita seems good not too much but i can deal with it.
In today's world most people aren't really focused on battery life anymore. At cafe's, resturaunt, some airplanes, cars, and even some stores have plug ins for outlets these days. Though a 3 hour battery life is on the low side, it's still better than playing on double A batteries like on the gameboy systems and most console controllers. I really don't see too big of an issue over something as simple as battery life for something that you can bring everywhere with you while being able to charge it at 75%+ of the places you see or go.
You think with all the advanced technology they'd be able to improve battery life...
