Weekend Warrior 12/16/11

by Ben Reeves on Dec 16, 2011 at 01:00 PM

We still have a lot of holiday shopping to do, but we’re all too busy playing Star Wars: The Old Republic to venture into a mall. Maybe we’ll just give everyone their gifts on Martin Luther King Day again.

Andrew Reiner: Despite having to wait in line for a half hour to play The Old Republic (the servers are already full), I'm hopelessly addicted to the game. My bounty hunter character has no honor. He'll do anything if it makes him rich. He's currently working for the Hutts. On his last mission, he decapitated someone and delivered the severed head as a message to another person who has betrayed the Hutts. He's the perfect Star Wars Reiner. I would give you my character name and the name of the server I'm playing on, but seeing as I'm already waiting a half hour to play the game, the less people on the server the better. Sorry. If BioWare figures out how to add more players without increasing the wait time, I'll gladly let you know where to find me. Have a good weekend, everyone!

Jeff Cork: I’m planning on shifting from one magical land to another. I’ve been having a great time in Skyrim, but apparently those whiners in Hyrule need my help as well. I’m definitely looking forward to getting into The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, but I’m already wincing just thinking about how much time I’ll be investing in it. I hardly ever see my family enough as it is!

Jeff Marchiafava: This weekend I plan on playing the last two tables of the Marvel Vengeance and Virtue pack in Pinball FX 2. So far I’ve tried out X-Men and Moon Knight, but I’ve heard good things about Thor and Ghost Rider, so I’m looking forward to trying them as well. I also plan on trying out Modern Warfare 3 finally, and if I have time, returning to Skyrim.

Andy McNamara: This weekend I plan on hiding from the outside world as much as possible and putting time into The Old Republic. I just have to hope the queues aren't in the hours again, because if they are I'm gonna drop this game like a bad habit. Also, I will try to adhere to my new rule as I described on twitter, which is that I will work out for an hour before I play an MMO at home (unless injured). The reason for this rule? I am a bit of an MMO fanatic, and if I don't put this rule in place, I will play games of this type for 80 hours a week. Hence, the reason for the barrier. Sadly, I bet I come up with a good excuse to skip this rule within a week, people on Twitter said I wouldn't make it three (and they aren't wrong yet!). Weep for me. Worst case, I'll just play Assassin's Creed: Revelations and stab people in the face.

Tim Turi: This weekend I really have my hands full. I need to continue Link’s adventure in Skyward Sword and really get rooted in my early access Star Wars: The Old Republic account. I can’t wait to put my bounty hunter through his paces.

Jason Oestreicher: This weekend I'll be driving down to Chicago for a video game filled holiday party.  Good friends, good games, and friendly (hopefully) score chasing. Coincidentally, my favorite band, The Protomen, are playing in the same town... at the same time. Breaks my heart that I'm going to miss them.

Kyle Hilliard: My wife and daughter went to South Carolina for the weekend, so I am living the bachelor lifestyle for a few days, or as I like to call it, falling asleep in my recliner while playing Assassin’s Creed Revelations. If you see me on Xbox Live with an away status, you will know why. I miss them already.
