The lights are on
Bethesda has just announced that worldwide shipments of its epic The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim have passed an impressive benchmark. In a press release released today, the company broke the news. On a worldwide basis, Skyrim has now shipped over 10 million copies, generating around $650 million in retail sales. In North America, the PC version of Skyrim outsold all other PC games three-to-one.In addition, Valve has announced that Skyrim is the fastest-selling title in the history of its Steam digital distribution platform. Raptr, a service which tracks the gaming habits of players worldwide, has dubbed Skyrim the most-played game of 2011.Throw in over 200 perfect review scores (though it fell short of that score in Game Informer) and a Game of the Year nod from the Spike Video Game Awards, and this reporter can come to only one conclusion: People really like Skyrim.
