End Of Final Fantasy XIV Free Period Gets Date

by Matthew Kato on Dec 06, 2011 at 02:33 AM

All good things must come to an end, and even some not-so-great things as well. Square Enix has announced the date when Final Fantasy XIV's free-to-play period ends and its paid subscription phase begins.

Square Enix had previously switched the MMORPG to the free-to-play model because the game was initially so bad, but that's ending on January 6th, when it switches back to a paid model. Subscriptions will be at a discounted rate ($6.99 for a month, $17.97 for three months, or $29.94 for six months) until FF XIV's full 2.0 version is integrated into the current game sometime after October 2012. The full client will then go on sale in early 2013 for both PC and PlayStation 3.

How many FF XIV players here are willing to start paying for the game?
