Alec Baldwin Loves Words With Friends Enough To Get Kicked Off An Airplane

by Phil Kollar on Dec 06, 2011 at 02:05 PM

I'm normally not a fan of the "look! celebrities play video games too" breed of stories, but this is kind of awesome. Apparently Alec Baldwin was kicked off an American Airlines flight because he refused to put away his iPad and the game of Words With Friends he was engaged in.

The Scoop picked up on this news through a variety of tweets earlier today that began with Baldwin himself tweeting, "Flight attendant on American reamed me out 4 playing WORDS W FRIENDS while we sat at the gate, not moving. #nowonderamericaairisbankrupt." Shortly following this tweet, Baldwin was kicked off the flight in question.

Baldwin representative Matthew Hiltzik released this official statement:

"Alec was asked to leave the flight for playing Words with Friends on his iPad, while parked at the gate. Alec is so in love with Words with Friends that he would risk getting thrown off a flight to play. He's already been re-booked on another American Airlines flight."

Meanwhile Baldwin's Twitter account has been updated with continued complaints about American Airlines all day, including some great Words With Friends photoshops and a vow that Baldwin is switching to United for his future flights. Lesson learned: Nothing gets between a celebrity and his or her word game of choice.
