Battlefield 3 Sales Reach 8 Million

Electronic Arts' massive shooter just keeps on selling.

CFO Eric Brown announced during today's Baird Technology Conference in San Francisco the game has now sold 8 million copies to date. This is up from the 5 million EA sold during the game's first week on sale in late October.

Brown continued to say the publisher has now shipped 12 million copies of Battlefield 3. It shipped 10 million in the first week for comparison. A per platform breakdown of sales was not provided.

  • Good for Dice. (I hate you EA)
  • May not be GOTY, but it's got my vote for FPS-OTY
  • Still need to try this game (haven't played any of the previous entries). The review did mention it was very guided though, I believe, and that was kind of a turn off for me. I don't really play multiplayer, so is the SP worth it?
  • It's too bad most people just shovel their money to worst games. But Skyrim is amazing as well. How many has it sold?
  • double post sorrrrrryyyyy
  • Well as long as the developers get their fair share the more the merrier

  • I still have yet to try this game out.
  • Me gusta mucho. Me gusta mucho a lot.
  • I regret paying for this game, but tons of other people like it so good for dice and ea.

  • Not really surprising. Though I wish more non-shooters could sale like this.
  • Nice to see that it's doing well for itself. Hopefully this means that the next iteration of the series does even better!

  • Congrats to DICE. EA, you suck
  • DRUGS DO NOT EVEN SELL THIS WELL... Maybe these video games are the new "drugs" maybe we should make them illegal and legalize drugs... from there games will be more underground and awesome. After that people will trade disks on the streets and grow them in their basement (digitally grow) oh the insanity the future holds!!!
  • Yeah baby!

  • Congrats Dice! The impressive sakes figures are well deserved and I'm proud to be a part of it. I had to talk many friends out of pirating this one, MW3 sure but not BF3.
  • People must love their shooting games.
  • Proof that people love shooting stuff.
  • And on Christmas all the 6 yr old COD players will buy this. Sales will be like 20 million because they can't stand campers.
  • Guys, just remember this game was on sale for $40 on black friday ($30 on Origin).
