Battlefield 1943 Will Be Available To PlayStation 3 Battlefield 3 Owners

It's been a tumultuous journey for PlayStation 3 owners who were promised Battlefield 1943 for free with their purchase of Battlefield 3, but Electronic Arts is now making the game available.

The game was promised to be included for free, but in October it was revealed that the game was pulled, and then earlier this month EA was taken to court over the missing game in a class action lawsuit.

Now, EA is offering the game to buyers of Battlefield 3 for the PlayStation 3. Head here to begin the redemption process for the game. North American gamers can begin downloading on December 10, European gamers can begin downloading on November 26, and Japanese gamers can begin on December 17.

There are a couple of hoops that still require your jumping through, but the game will be yours soon. All it took was a large group of people threatening to sue Electronic Arts.

  • Seeing as this game sold like hot cakes when it released, I'm amazed so many people still don't have it.
  • I'm getting BF3 this holiday, but I already have 1943 so I don't care.

getting soon deux ex hr,sims 2+expansion packs... and please tell me some good pc games thanks :)
  • "Tumultuous?" I don't think I've ever heard that word. I had to look it up.
  • I don't think anyone will play BF43 since BF3 is so amazing.
  • Did EA ever release a statement concerning why Battlefield 1943 wasn't packaged with Battlefield 3?
  • Everyone goes gaga for 1943. I have it from BC2 Ultimate Edition and only played 15 minutes maybe once I downloaded it.
  • Well give Sony props, when they make a promise, they get it done.
  • Awesome! I'm definitely not going to complain about free games.

  • Yay.

  • I just hope we still get our free Back to Karkhand DLC. It would be total bull if they replaced this for that, like they did that for this at first.
  • What about those of us who didn't pick up BF3 for PS3? We're shafted? Figures.
  • how is this news jeez gameinformer staff
  • "All it took was a large group of people threatening to sue Electronic Arts."

I swear, their PR division must be run by the same inept marketing staff that came up with such gems as "Your mom *hates* this game". They could've avoided all of this by simply informing/apologizing to consumers about the missing 1943 prior to the game's release, then promising the game shortly thereafter. But that was the smart thing to do...
  • AWWWWWW YEAAAHHHHHH
  • I wonder if this'll mean the lawsuit will disappear or if reneging on the initial promise is enough to bring them to court despite finally giving in.
  • good. those stingy bastards ought to cough up their promised game or else they'd be f'ed in the a by the masses

  • i think this is total BS since i paid 15 dollars for my copy of BF1943 and now their giving it away for free WTF i believe a refund is needed. who else agrees?
  • EA's generosity is underwhelming... Still I'll be glad to have it, I never played it the first go round.

  • Why only PS3?
