Square Eidos Expands in Montreal

by Matthew Kato on Nov 21, 2011 at 04:13 AM

Square Enix is expanding its presence in Montreal after the success of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and the future demands of the Hitman franchise.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution developer Eidos Montreal will receive an influx of 100 new employees and updated accommodations, and the studio will embark on a new triple-A project to go along with the Thief game it's already working on.

Elsewhere in Montreal, the company is also opening up the Square Eidos Montreal studio in 2012, which will create 150 jobs and help IO Interactive on the Hitman franchise.

Given the frequent and necessary hand-wringing about the future of some Japanese companies and their ability to appeal to Western audiences, it's great to see Square Enix thriving in this half of the world.
