Bethesda Asks For Patience On Skyrim Fixes

Bethesda says its working on game fixes for all versions of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and asks that fans be patient.

"We are continuing to work on an update for all platforms to address issues any bugs and performance issues we can. Patches and updates take a little time," said Pete Hines, VP of PR and Marketing at Bethesda in a series of Twitter posts. "We can't turn it around quite that fast. It's been three days. Calm down. We're working on it."

Another issue Bethesda says it's addressing is the texture problem plaguing Xbox 360 versions of the game. Those who install the game on the console's hard drive are experiencing textures not fully loading and appearing blurry. "We will fix as much as we can for your platform," Hines added. "I don't know if it will fix 'your' bug. Takes a while to test/fix/regress. Hang in there."

Those who wish to report problems or bugs they run into can do so at Bethesda's support page.

  • No problems here
  • My frame rate is really bad. And it seems fine on my friends PS3 but his is one of the newer ones... Think i should trade mine in for a newer one?
  • Skyrim runs very well on my 3 year-old Alienware (high setting). I played 27 hours before my first crash, and haven't had any issues at all with bugs. It's smooth as can be on PC.
  • I was grabbing every pot and basket and broom that I could on the way out of the keep. Neddless to say by the time I hit the caves I was moving like mollases. So I dropped everything wich had the magical effect of transporting me back to where I first picked up the Large cast iron pot at 4 weight.(- 30 minutes of my life)
  • Only problems I've had are a few design decisions regarding followers that patches likely won't ever address in a game this big, the arrows glitch where they stay stuck in your character model which is easily worked around by unequiping arrows, and the slow downs. The slow downs are brutal though, that needs to be fixed. I haven't noticed that many unloaded textures to be honest, though I did see a dragon skull in the loading menu that didn't load and looked ugly as hell. All and all I think the game is in fairly good shape, I can't complain about unique glitches that only occur under very specific situations because there's really no way to catch those unless you had a QA team the size of a good portion of your consumer base.

  • Only bug I found is when I go to search body's or item's to take loot, I end up dragging them with me.I ran for 30mins with a dead body dragging behind me before I was able to get rid of it.Other than that Skyrim has exceeded my expectations.
  • My character got stuck on some geometry. Also, a bandit I killed and looted was somehow literally attached to my character and wouldn't let go for several minutes.
  • I've had a few hiccups, but honestly I'm so freaking distracted by all the content in the game I hardly notice.

    I can definitely be patient.

  • Every game. Every *** game. Why does Bethesda Always make buggy, glitchy games? I love ya guys, but your killing me.
  • Lets see, when I started the game the first time, I never got the opening cutscene because somehow I was outside the carriage.  Next glitch is that I got stuck on some rocks.  Next one was that my companion got stuck on a rock.  And the worse of all glitches was that the *** companions mission was glitched to the point I was almost unable to complete it, if it wasn't for a post I saw.

  • Probably put 50 hours into the PC version of Skyrim so far, and have only crashed twice. For an open world and massive content game like this I can stand a few crashes; through painstaking difficulty I've learned to quick-save often enough anyway.
  • It's kind of difficult. I can't buy decorations for my house now, I was able to, but I loaded a past save because it was corrupted. I mean corrupted as in I would walk into any building and instantly hear a enemy I had defeated awhile ago. It was never there, in the building. Now I've loaded the old save, and I can't decorate my house... :/
  • I have it for the 360 and haven't run into any major issues.  A few glitches here and there but never anything major to complain about.

  • Bethesda can take however long it takes to fix the bugs. They deserve atleast that much for releasing such an epic game ^_^

Sorry to hear about the xbox's deal with textures, though. That seems like it'd get annoying real quick.(ps3 owner)

  • Nothin to report so far on my end

  • no worries. the bugs are minor considering how incredible and overwhelmingly detailed this game is
  • I really haven't had any problems and I'm playing on my nearly seven year old Launch Box. Also, you can't expect a game the size of skyrim, with all the content and variables that are possible within it to not have some bugs. I'm just glad this game has finally arrived

  • The Greatest game ever made, And I say this with complete conviction (and I've played 90% of the highest rated games to ever come out, all the big names) is hardly marred by a few glitches.. It's an inevitability of every game, big deal, hasnt detracted from my 70 hours in already.
  • I'm glad Bethesda is trying to fix the so-called bugs, which I haven't even ran into yet. But does he have to sound like a Dick?
  • So, been playing for maybe 10 hrs. Amazing game. The texture is *** and anytime im in a closed area the the walls light up, like theres some kind of *** camo on the walls. Also i constanlty come across weird lines just in the landscape that dart into the sky. I just want it to look as good as a PC, I have a Mac of course. Awesome Game.
