Simpson’s Arcade Game Might Finally Come To Consoles

Konami’s Simpson’s Arcade game from the early ‘90s is widely considered one of the finest beat ‘em ups of it’s era, and yet we still haven’t seen the game ported to modern consoles as a digital download. Is that about to change?

The Australian Classification Board recently rated The Simpson’s Arcade Game as PG, meaning it contains mild violence. Previously, I had always heard that the Simpson’s game hadn’t been ported to modern consoles, because the voice actor royalties had been restructure since the game’s original release so that re-releasing the game now would cost more in royalty payments than it was worth. Maybe Konami has finally found a work around for this problem, or maybe this is just an evil dirty trick by the Australian government.

  • If I were to get this my little sister would flip out!

  • At the American Sports Center, this is the only game they have there. God Bless America

  • This doesn't look like a Skyrim review to me...get to work.
  • I loved that game. Countless quarters were spent playing it at the arcades.

  • Well, I hope those darn Aussie's aren't playing a trick on us, it would be great to see this game as a download.

  • Awesome! I was hoping for this after many years the X-Men Arcade was finally released as DLG on Xbox Live Arcade. I will still buy Simpsons... even if I do have access to MAME sources. Just don't ruin it like what happened to Ubisoft's Turtles in Time.
  • seems like a waste of money to me
  • Memories of me, friends, this game, and Chuck E. Cheese are all starting to come back to me.
  • Wow, somebody's keeping some other editors company so they can party later on...I really do like this game though; it sounds fun. Why don't I ever hear about arcade games like these?

  • I've beaten this game several times and would love to do so again on 360 with friends.  There'd be nothing better.

  • I often have been kept awake at night because this game was never ported. Well, that and the rather portly man watching a bootleg cop of the Human Centipede 2 hovering hasn't been to good for my rampant paranoia.
  • I loved this game! Oh god, the time I spent playing this...

  • Australians just want to troll
  • Oh man, I loved this game! I might finally be able to relive the awesomeness.

  • Memories of the local arcade where I made friends because of this game. The inflation of the balloon mini game was so difficult...but I think I grew into a great button masher thanks to MGS1.

  • ah yes i lost a significant amount of my life ( and quarters) at the laser tag/arcade when i was a kid i woud'nt trade it for anything...except to get my copy of mw3 come amazon MOVE YOUR ASS!!

  • Just got done playing Simpsons pinball for a couple hours. Anyways, i will probably get this since i played it so much in the arcades back in the day.

Now Konami has to release Lethal Enforcers 1 and 2 as an arcade port on XBL.
  • I played that weird version of it on my friends iPhone and loved it. I really really really hope this is real.

  • I just mentioned this 2 days ago on one of the message boards. This is my favorite beat em' up of all time.

  • Love the Simpsons so I can"t wait to see how this turns out.
