New Assassin's Creed Coming In 2012

Ubisoft will release another Assassin's Creed title next year, the publisher said.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed the news during the company's earnings call this morning. "There will be another great, full-fledged Assassin’s Creed title next year," he said. "It will be a major release and we’ll be communicating more about it in the coming months."

This should come as no surprise to fans as Ubisoft has made an annual release of Assassin's Creed since the release of Assassin's Creed 2. Early details from a Eurogramer interview last month with Assassin's Creed Revelations' creative director Alexandre Amancio hint the new game will conclude Desmond's storyline.

"In Assassin's Creed we set up a timeline with this whole end of the world plot of December 2012. That's fast approaching, and the story we have to tell, we obviously need to do it before we arrive at that point.," he said. "We have the Ezio cycle and the Altair cycle, and both of those are set to conclude in Revelations, and we have the Desmond cycle, which is set to end on December 2012. But there's many cycles within the brand – that's the whole point. History is our playground."

  • I am perfectly okay with this. I just hope they will keep more then one dev team on board like with Revelations to ensure high quality.

  • awesome can't wait to play AC Revelations or the unnamed sequel
  • I love this series the more the merrier!

I just finished Brotherhood a few days ago
    Man what a cliff hanger!
  • I hope they are serious about it being just for the real timeline cross over bit. They need to step back and make the one after that a significant reimagination of the series, it has started to get dull for me, not the story mind you. Just the gameplay.
  • Wasn't this already announced?
  • Assassin of Duty?
  • AC 3!!!! finally!

  • As long a yearly instalments are quality i have no problem with it.

  • As long as the quality remains the same, all is welcome. For a yearly release, at least this series has innovation, unlike CoD. P.S. It's going to be AC3!
  • I'm honestly lost for words. I just hope there is a lot of high roof tops to free run on in the comming titles. I didnt feel like much of an assassin in brotherhood in brotherhood. It just felt a little too crowded.
  • Assassin's Creed seems to be the only game that can release yearly and actually have me buy it every year. Gameplay improvements, genuinely interesting story and characters, different settings, and I feel like it's actually going somewhere. Kind of hoping next year will be the big AC3 though, but even after that, there were so many assassins who's stories are untold that I wouldn't mind playing through. Plus.. I have this feeling that they've been working on AC3 at the same time as brotherhood and revelations, maybe they're holding off for next gen though. As much as I want to play it.. I'd support that decision.
  • I love these games but I'm starting to get fatigued...
  • Im excited, i know other people aren't happy with the yearly release but honestly it just keeps me interested!! Only thing i want them to tweak a bit is the combat system.

  • Sounds good to me as long as it stays on par with the high quality that the series is known for. If the past 2 games are any indication, hopefully that shouldn't be a problem.

  • i kind of wish they would slow down with all these AC games, they've all been pretty good so far but I'm afraid if they keep putting a new one out every year it's going to reach a point where the quality is going to start dropping off or we're just going to get the same game with a slight twist every year
  • Wow, and Revelations hasn't even come out yet. I'm betting if this new game is going to conclude Desmond's story then we'll be getting to play as him if not exclusively than at least for 75-90% of the game's single player mode. I'm already curious how the combat mechanics will transfer over into a modern setting. I know Desmond has his own hidden blade but I doubt he'll be running around with a sword on his hip like Etzio and Altair.
  • I think this is best news all day, Now i know that this is getting repetetive to some, but this one will mostly likely be focused in the future. And i personally can't wait!
  • as long as they keep getting progressively better.

  • I'm a big fan of the series but I just hope they don't start milking the series.

  • Hopefully it's AC3 which has been in development since AC2 released
