Have A Rainbow 6 Patriots Question? Ask Away

Last week, we revealed Ubisoft's Rainbox 6 Patriots to the world in our latest cover story. Since then, many of you have naturally had questions about the game and its controversial take on home-grown terrorism. Now's your chance to do something about that.

We'll take your questions straight to the team at Ubisoft Montreal and get the answers you crave. Of course, you have to ask them first. If you have any lingering questions about the game, put 'em in the comments section below. We'll address them in a special-edition Game Informer podcast later in the month.

Get to work!

  • How many times will it be delayed?
  • How much does the storyline relate to current events?

  • What is the head/lead platform the game is build on?

    ---PC Version Questions---

    Will it come to PC?

    Will it support DirectX 11?

Will it support AA (Anti-Alias) & AF (Anisotropic Filtering)?

Will the game feature DRM (what sort of DRM)?

Will the game come to Steam?
  • I'm really interested in the cover mechanics. Will they feel similar to the Vegas entries of the game, and if not, what kinds of changes are being made to make it feel new and unique?

Also, in the video we've seen, it seems like the focalization of the narrative can quickly and fluidly shift from character to character. Is that something that will happen often in the game, and if so, how will this technique inform gameplay?

  • I'm not entirely sure how big a role Tom Clancy played in the rest the games that have his name (although I remember reading once that he had veto power over certain aspects, such as how he was initially against the idea of Sam Fisher wearing goggles that had both night vision and thermal because it was unrealistic), but in any case, will he be taking any part in the development or story of this game and how much as that changed from earlier games?

  • There are a lot of shooters and I'm sick of it. What is different about this?
  • I noticed that many Tom Clancy games have had the same problem of delays and not making the intended launch date. So my question is how will you prevent this through out the development cycle ?

  • My question is why was Demon Ragnarok permabanned? Because he should be here asking questions!
  • Will the character customization be improved on what Vegas did or is it a new system? And did Tom Clancy actually have involvement in writing of this game?

  • How much does the team look at shooters like CoD or BF when making this type of game? Do they try to top those games or make a niche of their own?

  • Will there still be a Terrorist Hunt mode?

  • Will there be local co-op where the guest user can sign in using their profile, to earn points/unlocks?

  • Is R6P being developed for the next-gen consoles?

  • How are they planning to update coop for the new R6 to make it better than what was done in Vegas 1 and 2?

  • Will the game offer 4 player co-op in the campaign like in Rainbow Six: Vegas? And what are some improvements being made to the gameplay and PEC system?

  • Do you think you have lost the plot with Rainbow Six by putting the team up against enemies in the U.S, again?

Rainbow is an international 'blackest of black' counter-terrorism unit that undertakes missions that normal military or law enforcement units can't, either due to the gravity of the situation or political sensitivity (eg. Belgium Embassy mission in the first R6 game). With Patriots, this is the 3rd time Rainbow is saving America. Don't you think this is a job which the US's Delta or DEVGRU units could handle too? Why specifically use Rainbow again? What I mean is, given how Rainbow 6 always sticks to reality as far as possible, under such circumstances I don't see why the U.S needs to call on the help of an international task force. In the previous games R6 1 to Raven Shield, we have always seen Rainbow deployed to obscure locations around the world conducting hostage rescue and counter-sabotage missions - will we see a return to this globe-trotting storyline?

Also, will we able to plan our own mission (waypoints + commands) before executing it like in the first 3 games, or are we forced to follow the COD-style checkpoints again?

  • I think a similar plot was foiled days before the announcement of this title. To what extent will such real world scenarios impact the storyline or are the inspirations more fantasy based?

  • Will you be able to customize your soldier like you could in rainbow six vegas 2?

  • Is the story mode split evenly between the Patriots, the new Rainbow Six team, and the civilians or is there one that you will play more than the others?

  • Are Ding Chavez or John Clark present in the game?  Is there any mention of Jack Ryan Jr., the Caruso brothers, or anything in general regarding The Campus from Clancy's more recent novels?
