New BioWare Title, Next Alan Wake Debuting At The VGAs

The annual Video Game Awards show is just around the corner and teases for this year's big announcements have begun.

Three promised reveals include a look at a brand new franchise from BioWare, the developer behind Mass Effect and Dragon Age. We'll also get a look at the next Alan Wake title and a full reveal of Metal Gear Solid: Rising. We'll have the first teaser images of these titles this Monday at Gameinformer.com (also featured in the December issue), so check back then.

The Video Game Awards show airs on Saturday, December 10 on Spike TV, MTV2 And Spike.com at 8:00 p.m. EST.

[Update: The Alan Wake announcement is for a full download title on Xbox Live Arcade, not "Alan Wake 2." Apologies for any confusion. The headline has been corrected.]

Comments
  • The VGAs are painful. Don't think I'll watch after last year with all the crappy production values and MCR stinking it up. No offense to MCR fans, but the last thing they made that was even close to halfway decent was Black Parade.

Que someone raging on me for this comment, lol.
  • New Bioware title!?!?! YEAH!! That's always awesome news. I'm not going to watch the VGAs, but I'm still excited to find out what it is.
  • There is absolutely nothing, not even a new Bioware title, that can get me to watch the VGAs.
  • Please let it be Jade Empire II.
  • I must admit I watch the VGA's for the reveals (I'm a sucker for the reveals) and also for the awkwardly unintentional humor you see on stage.

Oh...and I forgot to mention I'm usually drinking a beer.

The beer helps make the pain go away...

  • BioWare working on something = good.

    New franchise = awwww.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who wanted KotOR 3...
  • all about the reveals!! lol

  • I'll watch it, but I won't like it. Maybe some news on KH3D will be there. A man can dream.
  • Always love new IPs. Also played Alan Wake this summer and wondered why I didn't play it earlier. It really flew under the radar. Only thing I liked about last year's VGAs was Arkham City and Jose Gonzalez but I will probably still watch this years.
  • I still won't watch the VGA, I'll wait till Gameinformer, IGN, or some other gaming website post in the new trailer or atleast news on the two games. Because VGAs are just awful and boring to watch.

  • A new Alan Wake game, oh joy... There's a game I never thought would get a sequel. Maybe we'll find out what exactly the ocean is in this one.
  • YES!!! Alan Wake 2!!

  • To make the VGA's watchable. I need: Fallout 4 (No way it's gonna happen this early, but still. Hope.) Half Life 3(Just for the lolz) Battlefront 3 (Seems possible) and possibly, Medal of Honor 2 to be there.
  • First Rainbow Six Patriots, now Alan Wake. Game Informer, you have made me very happy, this day.
  • Hmm, what could it be... Mass Effect Stone Age? Mass Effect Jade Empire? Mass Effect Survival Horror?

J/k. I don't know how they can rip off their own game again.

Regarding the VGA's, if I didn't watch last year there's no way I'm doing it this year. Not until they make it less of an offensive joke.
  • New BioWare game yeah!

  • An Alan Wake sequel? Yes! A totally new Bioware game? Double Yes!!
  • Metal Gear Solid Rising? It's about time! I bet the Bioware title is Dragon Age 3.
  • I love the VGA's simply for all of the new stuff that is revealed.

  • Very interesting this BioWare new title. I've had this feeling for a time now that they are ready to come out of their RPG pedigree and try new genres. I wouldn't be surprised if this new title is not an RPG.
