Obsidian Adapting A Leading Animation Franchise To Video Games

by Matt Bertz on Oct 30, 2011 at 12:30 PM

The studio behind Fallout: New Vegas, Neverwinter Nights 2, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II has a new venture on the hot stove.

In digging through the corporate profile of Digital Development Management, a game-centric talent agency, Joystiq stumbled on some interesting information regarding Obsidian's current project. In the "exclusive clients" section of the document, DDM says Obsidian is working on an "unannounced project for [a] leading animation franchise."

When I hear "leading animation franchise," I think The Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama, Spongebob Squarepants, and South Park. Each of these properties have been licensed for video games in the past. Agencies often have much looser definitions of terms like "leading," so don't be surprised if it's something else entirely.

I wouldn't mind seeing someone take another crack at an Adult Swim adaptation The Venture Bros. and Metalocalypse in particular would be great games. What animated franchise would you like to see make the jump to interactive entertainment?
