The lights are on
When Activision first announced Sledgehammer Games, a new studio formed by Dead Space development heads Michael Condry and Glen Schofield, the team was to develop a third-person action Call of Duty title. But after the fallout from the Infinity Ward scuffle last year, Activision needed help finishing Modern Warfare 3.
That means the planned action title is now likely on the chopping block.
“We'll probably cancel it,” Schofield told CVG in an interview. “They gave us the choice of: do you want to work on Modern Warfare 3, or do you want to continue working on this? And we really liked that. We liked what we were doing. It third person, probably set at a time that might have niched it too much. I bet that if we had kept going, within a month or two I probably would have switched the time period, but kept the gameplay. It had some really cool stuff.”
When asked wether or not Sledgehammer will work on its own project after Modern Warfare 3 ships this fall, Schofield said future plans are not concrete just yet.
“I think the best thing that could happen for Activision would be for us to both go off and make our own game. Whether that's a Call of Duty game or not is up in the air. I plan to continue working on Call of Duty.”
I hope that West and Zampeela put Activision out of buissness. All they do is ruin promising frachises and destroy other competitors so they can get their wallets fatter.
Kinda glad, I don't see an action call of duty game being any good but it kind of sucks. I'm sure they put some time into the game and to have that time be wasted kinda sucks.
It would be nice if SledgeHammer made a new spin on a game like call of duty.
This would go under, "The Good news".
Every COD game is just like a Music update for the Guitar hero and Rock band games. New songs from bands, but still the same game. COD had become nothing more than the SAW movie's that come every Halloween. There all for pure profit.

After the last couple of COD games (besides MW) this was bound to happen.
What I don't understand is who in their right minds would leave EA just as they were starting to let their developers have more freedom, to join Activision and be sucked into the Call of Duty machine?
a third person call of duty would be way cool!
Eh, oh well.
So that means that their might be a 2nd Black Ops next year.
Dang it they better keep working on it. A third person COD would be cool!
Should always proof read what you write. Anyway, no big deal in my opinion, I want to know what happened to that Call of Duty MMO that was talked about.
And nothing of value was lost.
darn that would have been the first unique COD game in the last 5 years
