GameStop Giving Used Batman Buyers Free Catwoman Codes

by Jim Reilly on Oct 14, 2011 at 08:10 AM

Yesterday it was confirmed Batman: Arkham City requires players to input a code that comes with each new copy of the game in order to play the Catwoman sections. A report from Kotaku today, however, suggests GameStop is giving that code away for free to used buyers as well.

An purported internal e-mail says, “Customers who purchases a new or pre-owned copy of Batman: Arkham City will receive the Catwoman Bundle DLC.” It notes the code will be printed on the back of the receipt

A similar situation happened with Mortal Kombat, with Warner Bros. allowing GameStop to give online codes away for free to pre-owned customers of the game.

GameStop has not returned requests for comment at this time. We’ll update this story once we hear back.

Update: "Customers who purchase a new or pre-owned copy of Batman: Arkham City will receive the Catwoman Bundle DLC," a GameStop representative told us in an e-mail.
