NPD Report: Madden Tops September Sales
Madden NFL 12, Gears of War 3, and Dead Island led all September software sales, according to the latest NPD data.
The reporting period for the month included August 28 through October 1. Below is the top 10 list of physical game sales for September which include PC sales.
1. Madden NFL 12 (360, PS3, Wii, PS2, PSP)** Electronic Arts

3. Dead Island (360, PS3, PC) Deep Silver
4. FIFA Soccer 12 (360, PS3, Wii, PS2, PSP, 3DS) Electronic Arts
5. NHL 12 (360, PS3) Electronic Arts
6. Deus Ex: Human Revolution (360, PS3, PC)** Square Enix Inc
7. Resistance 3 (PS3) Sony (Corp)
8. Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars (Wii, NDS, 360, 3DS, PS3, PSP, PC) LucasArts
9. Call of Duty: Black Ops (360, PS3, NDS, Wii, PC)** Activision Blizzard
10. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine (360, PS3, PC) THQ
**(includes CE, GOTY editions, bundles, etc. but not those bundled with hardware)
Xbox 360 led all hardware sales with 438,000 units for the month. Nintendo sold more than 647,000 total hardware units: 240,00 units for Wii, 260,000 for 3DS, and 145,000 for DS. Sony has not officially revealed its hardware sales.
All told, game sales totaled $1.1 billion for the month, down 6 percent year over year.
