Dead Island DLC Gets Date

Publisher Deep Silver has updated its release plans for Dead Island's Bloodbath Arena DLC, which had previously been delayed so the game itself could get out the door.

The publisher says that the DLC will now come out in mid-November. It was originally free to anyone who pre-ordered the game at GameStop, and will cost around $10 when it comes out. Bloodbath Arena features four new areas, the Brain Bomb weapon, and lets you transfer earned XP and items into the main game.

Dead Island is available for the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. Check out Tim's review, here.

GameStop is the parent company of Game Informer.

  • I wonder if this will also fix the current achievement glitch for discovering 72 locations. Irritated me when I walked across the entire island 45 times looking for one stinking area. I was about driven mad. Now if you will excuse me, I have to go eat my foot.
  • Isn't this supposed to be multiplayer related? Any idea how that's going to work and whether they'll include firearms in the arena?
  • Mod
So its not free to anyone anymore?
  • Dang.....at least it's on November because i let a friend borrow it :(

  • The DLC sounds cool.

  • I want to see how a Brain Bomb works.

  • Yeah I'm kind of bummed out if I don't get this DLC free, I pre ordered and I should get my bonuses for doing that. #nothappy

  • Arena? Give me new locations!
  • I absolutely love this game, but it sounds like a horde mode and, with new game+, seems kind of pointless. After all, the entire game is kind of like an extended horde mode. ;)
  • I dont mean to sound like an ass or anything, but will any one really give a *** by mid November? Dont get me wrong, this was a good game but its been out for awhile now, and most people have finished it. So is the blood bath dlc going to be enough to make you put the game back into the system once other games like Uncharted 3 and Assassins Creed-R come out?
  • this is good news, but I might not still be exited for this by then. I have nearly everything achievement wise, the only ones I am missing are School of Hard Knocks and Burn burn burn. That achievement for going everywhere was actualy gettable, by going to the southernmost part of moresby. You will know your there if you fight raskals and there are very few zombies. There is also a flaming gate thing. Hopefully that will help some of you guys out.

  • Goodie, Goodie! =p

  • "lets you transfer earned XP and items into the main game." Some clarification would be nice on this part. Does this mean if you've already played through the main game that you'll have to play as that same character in Bloodbath? Or could you theoretically start a game in the Bloodbath with a character you haven't played as in the story campaign and then start a new story campaign as that character with all the XP and items you earned in Bloodbath?
  • i always wondered why that was their in-game

  • I wonder if they are going to put a new Lv. cap with some DLC...let me get to LV60 =p
  • This game had so much potential. It needs some major polish and refinement and it could have been an excellent game.

  • So uhh...that's mid-November?... As in after Skyrim is out?

  • That's cool, although I hope they improve on the game itself until then.

  • I already traded this game in. It gets impossible to play on your own, and I don't like co-op so my time with this game was spent on the first part. As soon as I got to the city, my frustration level went through the roof and I stopped playing it.
  • not free? Wat kind of bull is this
