The lights are on
Marlowe, Sweetwater, Haggard, and Sarge may have another Battlefield adventure on the horizon.
Though the Battlefield 3 beta is in full swing and the game's October 25 release date is right around the corner, a forward-looking reporter for the The Guardian wanted to know what plans, if any, DICE has for the Battlefield spin-off series Bad Company. Producer Patrick Liu's answer should satisfy fans who were sad to see the rag-tag B Company crew take a furlough for the proper numbered sequel.
"We haven't killed Bad Company!" he said. "But we can only make so many games. Be patient – there might be something else coming up...
"We always have a couple of projects going on – some of them die, but
some are more fruitful. We don't have any plans to make Battlefield an
annual title – we want to make it ourselves we don't want anyone else
doing it! And no studio can make an annual franchise by themselves –
well, the sports titles can but they're a very different breed."
Liu also shed light on why DICE chose the Operation Metro map for the Battlefield 3 beta, which contrary to typical BF maps doesn't feature vehicular combat.
"I think there's been a misunderstanding of the term 'beta test'!" he said. "We ran
the alpha tests with a rush map and we wanted to have some sort of
reference so we could compare results – so we needed to have
more-or-less the same map. We do understand the concerns that we
didn't show a conquest map, but we have demoed Caspian Border, and we
did run a conquest map as a limited PC-only test."
In other Battlefield news, DICE posted a new blog that discusses the changes it plans to make for the retail release coming out of beta. Highlights include improved squad logistics, like the ability to create squads in a pre-game lobby, sticking
with your squad when joining a game, and inviting friends
to a squad and changing squads once in game. You can read the full list of changes here.

Glad to know we haven't seen the last of Bad Company, as long as the campaign of the next game is more similar to that of the first. It just had a better campaign.
keep it the same as bad company 2, but with better grapics and more attachments
ive always been a big fan of Battlefield and battlefield bad company series
Awesome, now bring back the tone from the first game.
I would love another Bad Company game, but I am more than willing to wait so that DICE can perfect it before just jumping into another title.
i LOVED BC!!!cant wait for number 3!!!!!
please no dice, do something new.
wow a title that is labeled as a sub-set of the main game..that IMO has always been better then the main game. At least they are listening to the beta even if the changes are some things that are dumb not to have in the first place, like having your whole party that is set in a squad stay together in a squad.
I like Bad company as well so this is great news the end of Bad Company 2 was kinda a cliff hanger so this doesnt surprise me
Man, I can not wait for Bad Compann 3. I could just see myself playing it right now!
LMAO how hipocritical for them to say Activision makes a COD each year; look at these guys and BFBC3 might end up being better then Battlefield 3 lol; EA's DICE games are mediocre.. all graphics and non intriguing gameplay. There better off making PC only exclusives- saves them the time and money- more production value in one key system versus wasting time putting it into consoles. If put there all into making a PC exclusive BF3- the game would have been out last year and 10X better
I hope they stay with the story line.
well thats something new.
yes! i love these guys!
That still doesn't really explain why they picked such a non-battlefield map for the beta. I'm sure there were other excellent rush maps to pick from
That's pretty exciting. I hope it's a long ways out, though. I can't afford another game any time soon.
i lov dice they should mery gaben
