[Update] Report: Sega Re-Releasing Daytona USA?

by Matthew Kato on Oct 04, 2011 at 04:28 AM

Update: Sega has all but confirmed that Daytona USA is indeed getting a retread. Sega of America has posted a YouTube clip inviting viewers to guess their next game announcement with help from a sound clip. The clip? It's Daytona's infamous "Rolling start!" soundbite.

To make things a bit more interesting, Sega's hosting a little contest, too. If you send an e-mail to sweepstakes@sega.com with the name of the "mystery" game in the body, you could win a free copy of the game on the PlayStation 3. The offer ends October 10, so get a move on.

Original Story: Once again, the Australian ratings board may have offered a glimpse of the future.

Gamespot reports that the Classification Board of Australia has a listing for Daytona USA for multiple platforms. No other information is discernible for the game's listing, although we're going to make an assumption that the game will hit Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.

The hit game was first released in arcades in 1993, and was re-launched last year under the name Sega Racing Classic.

Anyone have any fond Daytona USA memories?
