Rumor: Alan Wake 2 Is For The Next Xbox

Remedy, the developer behind the atmospheric action/horror title Alan Wake, is reportedly hard at work on the sequel. The catch? It isn't even for the current console generation…if you believe the rumors.

According to a report from CVG, the latest issue of Xbox World hints that Remedy (along with Lionhead, Rare, and Turn 10) has started working on the next wave of Microsoft hardware, saying: "We hear a number of Microsoft-friendly developers are hard at work on prepping next gen games as we speak. Could this be the reason why Remedy are so quiet about Alan Wake 2? (Yes)."

Remedy has certainly expressed the desire to work on more Alan Wake, and no one should be surprised that Microsoft wants some studios producing next-gen titles. Even so, keep this info filed squarely in the "rumor" category for the time being.

  • Well. I hope that it every bit as good as the first. The original was amazing, and really underapreciated. After a long day of running around, shooting people and cursing at campers in Battlefield/CoD/Halo, I can sit down and be scared to death by this awesome game.
  • WHOO! YEA! Also, FIRS..., wait, what that canister doing on the floo O MY GOD ITS TEAR GAS! (GI Moderators and editors break in, steal computer)
  • ^_________________^
  • The first one was actually really fun and was very original, sadly I will not be getting any new consoles on release so I wont be able to play it unless they port it to pc (which with windows 8 [supposedly] having xbl integration they very well may)
  • I doubt it.
  • I hope this would be good since I loved the first one, so cant wait.
  • Mod

I could believe this. Given how much Remedy has put into the story and that we'll likely see the next consoles in 2014, this would make sense. Instead of putting it out near the end of the 360, release it a year or two after the next one and deliver a new experience. Regardless, a sequel would make me happy so I'll wait as long as I have to.

  • it would sell the system 4 me
  • God *** it! The reason i got an xbox 360 recently (even though i got it VERY cheap) was for alan wake im not going to buy a new console at a stupid price to continue :/. Hope it comes to PC where it belonged when it was first announced -.-
  • Well that's a bit of a surprise. If this rumor is true then Alan Wake 2 has to be in a pretty early stage of development. I just don't see Microsoft having even a prototype of the next-gen Xbox ready yet. I could be absolutely wrong though. It would be pretty exciting to hear Xbox or Sony say they are finally working on new systems nevertheless.
  • I would buy a next gen console for this game alone. The first was my game of the year from last year.
  • I don't care which system it's on because I will play it. I highly enjoyed the first one.

  • PLEASE!!!!!

  • Im glad, it feels like ms isn't taking advantage of such an awsome studio. Btw what pc parts you think the 720 will use?
  • Seems like a smart idea, if the big M is actually developing the "Xbox 720".
  • meh not a fan
  • INTERESTING.........
  • I thought I heard a rumor a while back that Alan Wake's sequel was going to be an Xbox Live Arcade game.
  • I completely forgot about that game, now I kinda want to play it again. Maybe I'll pick it up when the sequel's coming around.

  • Coming soon, in 2020! Xbox 720-U!
