Final Fantasy XIII-2 Pre-Order Bonuses Revealed

If you’re planning on picking up Final Fantasy XIII-2 when it hits stores January 31, you have a decision to make. Square Enix has revealed unique, retailer-specific pre-order bonuses.

Head over to GameStop to score an alternate costume for Serah. Lightning’s sister is playable for the first time in FFXIII-2, and you can continue her quest to find Lightning in a set of new duds.

Amazon is offering an exclusive boss battle against Omega in the coliseum. After defeating him, you can enlist Omega as one of your allied monsters. Read our preview of Final Fantasy XIII-2 to learn more about the monster-collecting feature of the game and other info.

Finally, Best Buy is giving away the Final Fantasy XIII Episodei novella to forward-thinking shoppers. This hardcover book bridges the Final Fantasy XIII and its sequel.

  • Bwhaaa ha ha! It's me Wray601 and I think that Final Fantasy XIII-2 is great and I want those cool preorder bonuses. I think anybody who likes Final Fantasy XIII-2 is a genius! Bwhaaa ha ha!
  • I think that I will be going with best buy

  • The Amazon preorder bonus sounds the best, but I usually go with GameStop.  Any word on whether this game has import options, so if I played FFXIII on the 360, I would want to get this one on the same console?

  • Does SE actually expect this to sell that well?
  • Really...Um Omega hands down!
  • That is a gorgeous picture of Lightning.
  • Might have to go with Best Buy on this one. Although I think I'd want some more detail on each of these first.

  • Gotta say it's pretty dumb that you get extra stuff from pre-ordering games. If I get a game I want to be able to have everything the game has to offer when I buy it. Not just if I pre-order the game.
  • Cool good sound interest :D

  • After the way Final Fantasy XIII turned out I'll be waiting for reviews on this one.
  • Torn between Amazon and Best Buy.  The alternate costume isn't much incentive next to an optional boss/allied monster or a hardcover novella.

  • Anyone else feel..I don't know...cheated by these preorders? An exclusive boss battle? Story bridge from XIII to the sequel? Usually these are just extras but these feel...kind of like part of the game.
  • I hate when the different retailers get different pre-order bonuses. Grrrrr

  • cant decide, but regardless im getting one of em

  • Probably gonna lean towards Best Buy on this, but hey, it's a nice problem to have for this case

  • if i had to choose i'd go with the best buy bonus as i'm sure the other bonuses more than likely will be released via DLC.
  • And this is why I don't like pre-order bonuses, because I want more than one of those things and I'm not sure if it would ever be released as DLC.

  • Easy. Ill buy the PS3 version from Best Buy, and then get the XBOx version from GameStop. There. done

  • Not a huge fan of preorder bonuses, but I still end up getting suckered into buying one.  While I generally get my games at GameStop, I'm strongly considering getting the Best Buy one.

  • Me? Ever thinking of buying a FF game again? Only if it's a remake.
