The lights are on
Update: Now that everyone's gotten their hopes up, it turns out that the tweet was just a hoax. Sorry for getting everyone's hopes up.
Original Story: If you thought the Bloody Roar series was dead, apparently you're wrong. It was merely hibernating for a while, according to Hudson Soft. The company revealed that a new entry is coming in 2012 via a tantalizing tweet.
Hudson didn't reveal any details on the game in its tweet (we'll blame it on Twitter's character constraints), though they say more info is coming soon. In the meantime, here's what you need to know: "New Bloody Roar sequel, is in production! we'll post more soon! ;) " There was talk of a new Bloody Roar game earlier in the year, but it went dark after the company was purchased by Konami.
It's been nearly a decade since we've seen a new Bloody Roar game, 2003's PS2 game Bloody Roar 4. Since then, fighting games have been enjoying a bit of a resurgence. If ever there was a time to bring back the series' transforming beasts, this is it.
Thanks for the tip, Christopher!
