The lights are on
Update: The "amazing" announcement pertaining to Nier isn't related to a sequel. Instead, it's a concert to be held only in Japan on October 28. That isn't bad news, considering that Nier's soundtrack is one of its highlights...but the announcement is probably a bit disappointing for fans who were hoping for another game installment.
Original Story:Nier has an audience of deserved fans, but it didn't seem to quite make the impact that demanded a follow-up when it released in 2010. Yosuke Saito, the producer of the game, is dropping hints on Twitter that there may be some news about Nier tomorrow.A sequel to Nier is the obvious assumption, but it really could be anything. All Saito said was that there could be an amazing announcement soon, and then he tagged his tweet with the hashtag #Nier.Joe Juba didn't get too excited about Nier when he reviewed it, but our reader review score is pretty high. What do you think? Do you want to play more Nier?[via Siliconera]

Absolutly freaking hilarious... well.. thats 24 hrs of my life wasted ...lol..
i bought this game based on the hype around it from Square.. enjoy the music.. played about 20 hrs of it.. and since then has became an awesome paper weight.. maybe one day i'll pick it back up and continue the "activities"..
yep it was a great game, mechanics and graphics were behind the times but it gad great characters and story.
I would LOVE to see Nier2, but I don't hold out much hope. Cavia disbanded not long after Nier was released; I don't foresee any of its former employees trying to get Nier2 afloat. That's really a shame - I think it's one of the best RPGs of this generation.
I want more Nier. After playing through all endings and getting more and more story, I was blown away. Although a certain characters' voice could be left out. Anyone who played knows who.
Just a concert? yeah like the Distant Worlds Tours are 'musical pieces from some random ass video games.' Alas, if it were to make it to the U.S. it'd probably just be three major cities in the country. *sob
Would have loved a Nier 2...shame.
Nier was a fantastic game, once you got past the mundane puzzles and endless backtracking, so with a higher budget, updated graphics and better marketing, I think a sequel would've been a major, anticipated release.
Either way, I wish I'd been able to go to the concert. That would've been awesome. I'll probably never hear a soundtrack like that again.
