Skullgirls Moves to 2012

by Matt Miller on Sep 27, 2011 at 12:20 PM

The intriguing downloadable fighting game is jump-kicking its way into next year and gaining a host of improvements along the way.

Reverge Labs announced the release date delay on its website, and included a number of new features that the delay will allow the team to include.

Among the most significant changes are adjustments to gameplay so that it runs 10% faster, upgraded 3D backgrounds, new music, in-game art galleries, and all sorts of balance tweaking.

Skullgirls is one of the most promising fighting games on the horizon. Despite its cutesy anime look, the game has all the hallmarks of a game destined for the tournament circuit. Every time we see the game, it looks more polished, and the growing catalog of unique characters look like a lot of fun.

Here's hoping the delay into 2012 can help Skullgirls to stand apart from the crowd, and face a little less fierce competition in the crazy holiday gaming season.
