The lights are on
Square Enix's MMO Final Fantasy XIV hasn't exactly been a great success for the company, but maybe the series' legendary flightless birds can turn things around. Today, the company announced that chocobos will be available as mounts in the game. When riding a chocobo, you'll be able to traverse the world of Eorzea more quickly, and look cool while doing it. While some will be available as rentals, you'll also be able to get whistle items that allow you to call your own personal chocobo mount -- which will be faster than the rental models.Of course, the game won't just hand out a chocobo mount, you'll have to do a little legwork. Here, according to Square Enix, is how you get a chocobo mount:1) Officially enlist in a Grand Company (achieve a rank higher than recruit).2) Acquire a chocobo issuance for 3,000 company seals (price subject to change)3) Speak with the stablemaster NPC representing your Grand Company at one of the locations below to be issued a chocobo and a summoning whistle. While we doubt this will be a major game-changer for the MMO, it's certainly a welcome addition for hardcore Final Fantasy fans.
