The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Lasts 50 To 100 Hours

by Phil Kollar on Sep 12, 2011 at 06:40 PM

When I saw Skyward Sword for October's Game Informer cover story, Nintendo strongly hinted to me that this would be the biggest Zelda game ever. Today at the publisher's pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference, they revealed just how big they're thinking.

During the conference, legendary Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto talked about the upcoming Zelda title while a montage of gameplay clips played. Miyamoto revealed that a team of 100 developers at Nintendo have been working on this game for over five years. The grand sum of all that work? Miyamoto estimates that the final game will last players between 50 and 100 hours.

The footage showed off some rather crazy looking boss battles against huge creatures, giving off a Shadow of the Colossus vibe. Miyamoto revealed that upon completion of the 50-100 hour quest, players will be able to relive those confrontations in a boss rush mode.

Nintendo showed off a new trailer during the press conference, and we'll post that here as soon as it's available to us.
