Square Enix Planning Ahead For Final Fantasy XIII-3?

Final Fantasy XIII-2 won't be out until December in Japan and January in North America, but a new website domain registration suggests that publisher Square Enix may already be thinking about the next sequel in line.

Fusible uncovered that Corporation Service Company, a registrar that Square has used for previous sites in the past, registered www.finalfantasyxiii-3.com earlier this week. Square has previously made a direct sequel to Final Fantasy X, but if FF XIII-3 ends up being real, it would be the first time for the publisher to make a second direct sequel to one of its mainline Final Fantasy games.

Then again, a domain registration is still a long way off from a game announcement. If Final Fantasy XIII-3 is really in the planning stages, I wouldn't expect to hear anything about it until XIII-2 is out the door.

    Very interesting. I like XIII and its universe but they need to finish Versus XIII and then start XV perhaps. Is this gonna become its own series?

    First let us see how XIII-2 turns out. Though for me, XIII-2 is already looking like a win in my book. So I'm sure I won't mind XIII-3 if and when it comes out, lol.

    Too many Final Fantasies. I remember when I was like 8 I played 7, and now they're already at 13. The new one looks pretty cool though, so I might try it.

    Am I the only person who'd love to see a sequel to Final Fantasy XII? I loved that game, and it seemed so ripe for more stories to be told. Ivalice is to my knowledge, the only 'world/universe' that's been featured in multiple FF titles, both FF XII, and the FF Tactics series with a few thousand years separating them story wise. Does ANYBODY else agree with me?

    I'm exited for XIII-2 but it's too early to know if XIII-3 is necessary or wanted. Let's release VS XIII first then go from there.

    Here's a crazy idea, how about make a squeal to a final fantasy that isn't retarded. Oh well, I guess we can look forward to another game made up of nothing but pretty hallways.
