GameStop Plans To Accept Trade-Ins And Resell Apple iOS Portable Devices

by Matt Helgeson on Sep 06, 2011 at 11:58 AM

If you're looking to ditch an outdated iPod or iPhone -- or buy an older model at a discounted price -- you'll soon be able to do so at video game retailer GameStop.

According to a report at the website 9to5mac, GameStop will begin offering all models of iPhones, iPads, and iPods at its stores nationwide. While, so far, no Apple products are available for sale at GameStop, rumors out of the recent GameStop managers conference indicate that this will happen soon -- perhaps setting the stage for sales of new Apple products when the iPhone 5 launches in October.

Right now, this page on the GameStop site indicates that the company is accepting trade-ins of old Apple devices for in-store credit, presumably to start building stock for eventual sale.

[Full disclosure: GameStop is the parent company of Game Informer]
