New Dragon Quest Game Announcement Next Week

The popular Japanese RPG is getting another installment. Is this the long awaited Dragon Quest X?

Square Enix says that it will reveal a new Dragon Quest game on Monday, September 5th. It remains unclear whether the game to be revealed will be a totally unannounced title, or the long awaited Dragon Quest X. That game was  announced for Wii way back in 2008, but without any details or screens. A trailer for Dragon Quest X will be on the disc of Dragon Quest Anniversary, which releases on September 15th. It's not hard to believe that Square Enix would be revealing more about Dragon Quest X in advance of that trailer unveiling later in the month.

Supporting the idea of the new game being Dragon Quest X is a post over at andriasang. The Japanese news site recently visited dqx.jp and found a blank screen with a single line of text that, when translated, reads: "But the door was firmly closed."

No matter what Square Enix's big reveal is all about, the announcement of the new game will roll out via a live stream on Square's Ustream channel in just a few days.
