Harmonix Panel Shows Off VidRhythm And More

by Tim Turi on Sep 01, 2011 at 07:09 AM

Today Harmonix released a big, raw video from Pax 2011. It includes amazing shots of Bayonetta and Assassin's Creed cosplayers grooving out to Dance Central 2 and the entirety of Harmonix's panel. The highlight? A first look at the zaniness that is VidRhythm.

Skip to 1:29 if you want to see John Drake, Harmonix's director of communications and brand management, silently lose his mind.

The panel is hosted by Drake, Eric Pope (community manager), Aaron Trites (manager of community development), and former Game Informer editor Annette Gonzalez (community manager, Dance Central 2).

The highlight of the video is the VidRhythm demonstration. The game requires users to make sounds into their iPhone or iPod Touch, which will be used as bass, melody, percussion lines, etc. for a song. Oh yeah, it also takes an awkward video of you making the sounds. The result is a mashed-up cacophony of sounds that looks and sounds like one of the funniest things you've ever said.

Also, Annette reveals six new songs for Dance Central 2. They are Sir Mix-a-Lot’s “Baby Got Back,” Digital Underground’s “The Humpty Dance,” Kurtis Blow’s “The Breaks,” Usher’s “Yeah,” Haddaway’s “What is Love?,” and Bobby Brown’s “My Prerogative.”
