Nintendo Announces Last Five NES Games Of 3DS Ambassador Program

by Jeff Marchiafava on Aug 30, 2011 at 11:38 AM

When Nintendo announced its price drop for the 3DS, early adopters felt they had been duped into overpaying for the handheld. Nintendo apologized with the promise of a bunch of free NES games for the 3DS' download service, but didn't reveal the full list of games until today.

Nintendo tweeted the final five NES games today, which are: Metroid, NES Open Tournament Golf, Wrecking Crew, Yoshi, and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. These five games will be joining the previously revealed titles, Super Mario Bros., Balloon Fight, The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong Jr., and Ice Climber. Gamers might not dig all of the newly announced games, but you can't go wrong with the original Metroid. The NES games will be available for download on September 1.

Ambassador program members will also have access to 10 GBA titles, five of which are still unannounced. The ones that we know of are: Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Metroid Fusion, and WarioWare, Inc: Mega Microgames. The GBA games will be available some time later this year.
