Batman: Arkham City Will Have New Game Plus

Rocksteady's Dax Ginn dropped the new game plus bomb at this weekend's PAX event in Seattle.

In a video interview with GameTrailers, Ginn laid out the details.

"When you finish [Batman: Arkham City], you can then restart with all of the gadgets and all of the upgrades from the first playthrough, but you're going to need them in the second playthrough because all of the enemy configurations have changed," Ginn says. "All of the assistance you get in combat with those blue lightning bolts coming up against guys who are about to hit you, they're gone. So you have to read their animations coming in. That's why we really wanted to drive home the deployability with Batman: Arkham City -- taking those gadgets back into the streets, delivering justice a second time around. Really asking, 'Are you the Dark Knight? Have you got what it takes?'"

Who's going to beat Arkham City twice?

  • screw that just button mass the two fight buttons and the entire room of 50 babbies are half way dead and u have over 9000 combo(dbz reference) p.s.... FIRST!
  • Sounds great. I kinda hoped Arkham Asylum would have one, but it didn't.
  • That's an interesting way to do it. Make the game harder. But does this mean we'll be able to race through the game faster? God of War 3 couldn't use new game + because the game would only have been about a quarter of it's original length if it had.
  • why don't more games do this?
  • this is gonna be alot better, and kinda makes more sense, why would Batman go into a situation without all his gear? ill probs play it more than once anyway so i dunno

  • Every game needs new game +
  • That is really cool. It's like the whole game just became a tutorial for itself!
  • I hope it gets more and more difficult with each playthrough, like Borderlands did. I could see myself going 3 or 4 rounds with AC.

  • I 100% the first one(I loved that game), so new game plus is... well, a plus. That was lame. Sorry.
  • Hmm... that will prove difficult I'm sure... at least if you still want to feel like a capable fighter. Something tells me many may resort to kiting techniques, or minimize the number of enemies they fight at all times without those visual cues from the icons.
  • I'm beating it 12 times, fool=P
  • Hooray for putting something in that every game should have regardless...

  • nice, i think everygame should have a new game + mode if theyr are any rpg elements in it :) very cool move

  • i am proud to announce i will be beating this game.. 3x to the 5th power divided by wwe 12 and sharing with uncharted 3..

the solution to the equation is =... i just plan on playing..

  • I beat the first game three times and I'm now midway through a fourth playthrough. You bet your Batarangs I'm going to play Arkham City more than twice! This is exciting news for me!
  • I will. Sounds fun and challenging. Although, you could turn off assistance in AA, so I guess only keeping the gadgets is new.
  • I probably will only play it once, as there will be games coming out right after I beat it.

  • I beat AA 4 times. I got this.
  • I'm trying to decide whether to get this, or Uncharted 3, because i doubt i'll be able to get both. I DON'T KNOW!!!!
  • Cool, I love having my stuff that I work for, I feel most games could benefit from this.
