Skyrim On Xbox 360 Will Fit On One Disc

Unlike some recent blockbusters, Bethesda's Skyrim will fit on one Xbox 360 disc. After seeing titles like Mass Effect 3 and L.A. Noire span multiple discs, some 360 fans worried that Skyrim was going to have to be packaged as a multi-disc set.

Thankfully, Ripten is reporting that Skyrim art director Matt Carofano has confirmed that the game will be a single Xbox 360 disc. Given how enormous the game's world is, that's a pretty impressive feat of engineering.

  • thank you, i hate changing discs
  • Don't know why this is (EDIT: was) rated one star *rates Five*

That out of the way, coolbeans. Don't really know why multi-disc sets are such a problem on the 360; all I really have to do is get up from the seat and change it. But, since part of gaming is laziness, I can see why it would annoy people.
  • well the discs are gonna be bigger
  • What?? How the heck is that possible from what we know of the scale of this game? Will there be a drop in quality due to it fitting on one disc? I wonder if PS3 would be the better choice (for those who have the choice) because of this.
  • PC Gaming with Terabyte hard drive ftw...
  • the fact that it ISN'T multi-disc means that they probably had to scale it down which means quality takes a hit. DL for PC = no changing disc + faster load times + best quality possible
  • How the hell is Dead Space 2 on two discs and freaking Skyrim, the 10,000 hour game, on one? Guess somebody didn't compress the Peng treasure file.
  • That's great news :) Being on the PS3 and PC it probably wouldn't affect me but I'm guessing it's kinda of annoying having to switch discs, especially on a game as big as Skyrim, the system would be very...unnatural :/
  • Wow, if they pull that off without making the 360 version inferior then that is really impressive!

  • yeah microsoft uses a new type of dvd (they had a beta test with halo: reach) and people that ***** and moan about multi-disc games obviously never played final fantasy 7, 8, or 9 on ps1
  • That is quite shocking!
  • I guess Bethesda will have some assuring to do that the 360 version won't take a hit in terms of visuals.
  • Very shocking for a while really huge games take up multiple discs and that's good! I don't know if I like this, unless they figured out a way to fit more on one disc.

  • That's been the good thing about the PS3, it is kind of sad to have to stop and change disk. And for fan-boy flame war peeps, it's the disk and not the system. Hopefully the next X-Box will have Blue-Ray or something equivalent so you don't have this problem in the future. Considering how big this game is supposed to be, it is surprising it all fits on one, I hope not by cutting corners.
  • Is that good or bad..? Good for 360 bad for the rest bc that means less content ..
  • Good

  • Y'all do realize that Oblivion was one one disc as well, and that game was amazing. I'm sure the game won't be any less impressive because it's only on one disc instead of multiple.
  • I was 99% sure from the start that it would be on one disc, but there was still that slight bit of fear. I don't mind changing discs in linear games like L.A. Noire, but I would have hated it in an open game like Skyrim.

  • ps3 never has that problem. just sayin :D
  • is it that shocking? all bethesda games have been on one disc on the 360 and pretty much have been the better version for consoles
