[Update] Activision has announced that punk band Dropkick Murphys will be performing at Call of Duty XP's opening night, at 8 p.m. on Sept. 2.

“With an unbeatable lineup of real-world and in-game experiences, Call of Duty XP was already poised to be an historic event for fans of the franchise,” said Eric Hirshberg, Chief Executive Officer of Activision Publishing. “The addition of Dropkick Murphys just makes XP that much more memorable. Few bands fit the bill better—we’re thrilled to have them performing on opening day.”

They band joins Kanye West, who will be performing at the close of the first-ever Call of Duty event.

[Original Story] After attendees are done dropping tactical nukes, the rap star, fashion icon, and lover of fish sticks will drop some rhymes.

The Call of Duty XP gathering is turning into quite the spectacle. In addition to getting hands on time with Modern Warfare 3, a $1 million tournament, and live action recreations of popular Call of Duty feats, today Activision announced that the platinum selling hip-hop star will close out the festivities with a live performance. Activision also has a musical act booked for the first night, but has yet to reveal their identity.

XP takes place on September 2nd and 3rd in Los Angeles, CA. Tickets for the event will set you back $150, but keep in mind that two-day pass also includes a voucher for the Modern Warfare 3 Hardened Edition. If you want to participate in this frag fest, you can purchase tickets here.
