PlayStation Vita Allows Cross-Game Voice Chat

The PS Vita may or may not have more rams than the Bronx zoo, but it definitely has more RAM than the PlayStation 3. This allows the system to perform cross-game voice chat through a new party system. Also, we apologize for that first joke.

For a while it was rumored that the PlayStation Vita’s RAM had been trimmed down. Thankfully, rumors of the RAMs demise were greatly exaggerated.

The PlayStation Vita has 512MB of system RAM and 128MB of video RAM. How does that compare to the PlayStation 3? The PS3 has 256MB of system RAM and 256MB of V-RAM. This extra RAM enables the Vita to perform cross-game chat.

Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida recently told Eurogamer, "The reason why we were able to include something like Party, which enables cross-game voice chat is because we designed Vita so it always has enough resources to handle something like that behind the game while it's running.”

Sounds like a cool feature. We can’t wait to get our hands on the system and play with it for ourselves.

(Seriously, we’re sorry about that ram joke earlier. We’ve been properly punished. You could say we’ve had to face the RAMifications of our actions…we’re so dumb.)
