LittleBigPlanet 2 Move DLC Detailed

Media Molecule has revealed new details on LittleBigPlanet 2's Move-enabled DLC pack, Rise of the Cakeling.

The new DLC pack pits Sackboy against a rogue cake that "threatens doom and destruction" to Craftworld. The pack will contain five full story levels, seven side levels, plus new tools that take advantage of the PlayStation Move. Here's a complete list of bullet points from Media Molecule's website:

  •     A brand new story for LittleBigPlanet 2 – The Rise of the Cakeling with 14 new levels (5 levels, 7 mini games and 2 cutscenes)
  •     A new powerup for Sackboy: The Brane Crane
  •     3 huge new powerful gadgets for use with PlayStation®Move: The Movinator, The Move Recorder, The Paint Tool
  •     4 Interactive Music Tracks
  •     8 Music Sequencer Tracks
  •     A new Sound Object containing 32 new sounds
  •     17 new Music Sequencer Instruments
  •     A new level background
  •     6 New Costumes
  •     18 Materials
  •     41 Decorations
  •     13 Objects
  •     66 Stickers
  •     39 new LittleBigPlanet Pins
  •     11 brand new PlayStation® Trophies

The DLC pack will also bring backwards compatibility to all previous LBP 2 levels, meaning you'll be able to use the Move controller on all 5 million community levels. Now take a gander at this trailer.

  • that wat up first
  • The Move's not on the top of my list of things to get or do, but it does sound like a nice feature if you already have it.
  • Yay! finaly a use for the playstation move that i never ever use.

EDIT: Oh, and by the way, will i have to use the joystick too? Because for some reason, the Playstation Move did not come with that part...
  • Put the Move in the hands of the creative LBP community and see what happens O.O
  • hmm  intersting

  • I hear it might be possible to complete the levels without the PS Move, as long as a friend (online) playing with you does.

  • Mod

Nice. Seems like a natural fit.

  • If its 10 dollars or less ill be gettin this
  • I've GOT to get this game!!! i still havent finished LBP yet

  • Wow they are packing a lot into this update.  Still on my list before year over.  Hoping for a GOTY edition or GH.

  • The only reason I'll ever get a PS3.

  • They seem to be the only company able to use these "gimmicky" features in a not so "gimmicky" way and more so in a fun intuitive way.

  • Awww, Sackboy never fails bring a cuteness overload!

  • I just didn't like the first game, the platforming was too floaty for my taste.

  • I honestly think I am going to explode.  Of course I knew about this since before lbp2 came out, but not much.  I just basically knew that it existed.

Its too bad that there isn't more new logic, but I guess that would give the game too much potential. One new material that I know about is (I forget what it is called) a material that acts like an opaque hologram, allowing you to make perfect colors, that are activated by logic.  I really like this because it allows me to blend together pure red, green, and blue  to make any color that I want.

As for the actual move things, I am not quite as exited about that, which means very exited.  This means that with creative controls and sackbots, you can make an 8 player level.  I am curious as to how the control scheme is implemented for the motion controls.  The implementation of the six-axis was surprisingly smooth and easy, leading me to assume that the move controls will be likewise.

I am sure that the community will LOVE the custom sticker thing.  This not only is for things like sticking them on a wall in a level (will be MUCH cleaner now that it does not have to have that odd rectangle around the actual thing that you took a picture of), but you can also use them for decorating sackboy, and (My favorite) making an icon that is actually round for the level patch.

Now as to the sound object and the music sequencer, I assume (hope) that the sound object will contain generic sounds, as well as ones themed for the pack.  The music sequencer instruments will be good, although the current set seems to cover the main types of instruments that are there (ex. percussion, synth., ect.), so hopefully these will be new types of instruments (ex. violin, trumpet ect.).

.....  lost track of typing  .....

  • if its $1o or less i'll get it

  • Wow, i feel like this should have been released much sooner...at least the move support...
