The lights are on
Ex-Oasis songwriter and occasional singer Noel Gallagher's not totally sure what's to blame for the London riots, but he thinks he has a good idea.
"I can't understand where their energy for these riots is coming from," he told Bang Showbiz. "We live in this age of violence – and I don't care what other people say: Brutal TV and brutal video games are a reason for this pointless violence as well. The people are immune to violence, they are used to it. And if they get caught they aren't punished the right way. The prisons are already full? Then build new ones!"
Hopefully nobody turns around and blames Gallagher for exhorting "you might as well do the white line" in his song "Cigarettes and Alcohol" for any subsequent drug-induced madness. As a massive Oasis fan, I admit I've never done anything illegal as a result of the Gallagher brothers, although they did get me to buy a string of records with diminishing returns.

right... ill take advice from a failed songwriter about social consciousness.
let me know if the next time you get in a fist fight with you brother, if it was the tv and video games that made you do it.
this idiot talks about violence when he used to brawl with his brother all over the world...just stfu all ready
Yea. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the central banking families.
Yeah, what an attention looking guy. Just wants to get his own 5 seconds of fame, without thinking what he is saying.
no one cares what u think so go back to being quite and keep making songs that make no sense. what a complete idiot
Considering that he does not seem - even in the linked article - to address the actual underlying causes of said unpleasantness, I'm afraid that it's very difficult to see Mr. Gallagher's statements as anything more substantial than talking out of an orifice not usually mentioned in polite company.
Hasn't this been disproven? So this guy is just dumb?
It's funny because I blame terrible bans like Oasis for most of the problems in my life. Weird.
I believe that Noel has tripped up on drugs so long he needs to blame violence on something else he doesn't "involve" himself in...video games. I hate Oasis nowadays anyways.
Well said article guy :-)
I almost forgot about Oasis...for good reason.
I was going to give my two cents on the subject, but anything said by the songwriter for Oasis holds no weight in my opinion.
well you cant blame his music...nobody listens to it.
Okaaaaaay rant time. First of all, this was caused by a family man getting shot by london police. which caused a riot, "video games are the problem" my ass! 30-40 years ago people thought the same about rock music, which is what this *** hypocrite makes his money off. He is also taking a negative view on a hobby that many of his fans share, video gaming. This will obviously raise more hate for him and cause him a few thousand less sales. Violence is not caused by video games, B4D Sp3lling is caused by video games (couldnt resist). It isnt the industries fault if a mental nutcase kills a bunch of people and HAPPENS to play video games. That is the cause of mental disease that had gone on unchecked. Video games may cause people with these diseases to get video games mixed with reality, BUT they could easily get the same effect from reading books, watching movies or anything in general. They would have probably gone on a killing spree anyway, it would just be a matter of time.
Also it is irritating that they blame video games when it is often so obvious that they have been bullied or abused into committing these acts.
So go on you middle aged undeserving, uninformed idiots who believe that video games are the cause of the worlds problems. I believe i speak for all gamers when i say SHUT THE HELL UP.
of cuorse he does, it was only a matter of time before someone blamed games for the riots. i blame the government, they are the problem, they are not handling the sittuation correctly. i'm getting tired of people blaming games, just to ignore the real proplem and take care if it.
