Noel Gallagher Blames "Brutal TV And Brutal Video Games" For London Riots

Ex-Oasis songwriter and occasional singer Noel Gallagher's not totally sure what's to blame for the London riots, but he thinks he has a good idea.

"I can't understand where their energy for these riots is coming from," he told Bang Showbiz. "We live in this age of violence – and I don't care what other people say: Brutal TV and brutal video games are a reason for this pointless violence as well. The people are immune to violence, they are used to it. And if they get caught they aren't punished the right way. The prisons are already full? Then build new ones!"

Hopefully nobody turns around and blames Gallagher for exhorting "you might as well do the white line" in his song "Cigarettes and Alcohol" for any subsequent drug-induced madness. As a massive Oasis fan, I admit I've never done anything illegal as a result of the Gallagher brothers, although they did get me to buy a string of records with diminishing returns.
