Gameforge Surpasses 300 Million Registered Users

If you're one of those gamers who thinks free-to-play browser games are just a blip on the radar, Gameforge has 300 million reasons for why you may want to reconsider. Today the company announced its user base has grown to roughly the size of the US population.

Today Gameforge sent out a press release stating that its user base has grown by 100 million in the past year alone, and that it expects those numbers to continue rising thanks to the upcoming browser game Star Trek -- Infinite Space, which is set to release this year. The German-based company currently runs 20 games, from client-based MMORPGs to more casual browser-based titles.

I'll be honest, I've never even heard of Gameforge before, but with 300 million players, they must be getting something right.

  • do you think megan from ny ink is hot?
  • probably mostly people with multiple account and it would end up being all chinese people with 300 account+ farming gold.
  • never heard of them either. that's weird

  • Woah. I don't think I've even heard of them either.

  • These guys are kind of like nexus, they make a lots of bad free-to-play MMO's with a ludicrous number of micro transactions.

  • maybr you heard of bitefight,o game...

  • Well I have... Never heard of them.

  • Yeah.....like all the other people here, I've never heard of this GameForge.

  • I have never heard of them but if they are one of those companies who put out games that rely heavily on micro-transactions and a pyramid scheme, then I probably won't be playing any of their games. I'm not saying their games are bad, after all, I have no idea which games they have made but if they do rely on the aforementioned business model then I really have no interest in them. It's just not my thing.

  • Do all these users want me to buy some sort of clothing from a website I have never heard of?
  • There is no possible way to conclude that f2p is a blip on the radar right now. There are far too many games using some variation of the Nexon model to compensate for the rising costs of other platforms.

I don't know how long it's going to last (I've never heard of Gameforge either), but it's the present.
  • 300 million?  Wtf?  I have never even heard of GameForge and I read about games a lot.  Those numbers seem fishy..

  • Who?

  • Never heard of this, maybe it has 300 million users because it's FREE.

  • I never really heard of them ,but I wonder if their games are good...
  • Same here, I've never heard of them either, but there are a lot of people who play browser games.

  • thats more than facebook i think.......

  • They got 300 million people to register on their site. That is impressive but it doesn't mean these people didn't leave the site once they discovered the games. Have they got a significant number of people to give them a dime in micro-transactions? If they had, they would be worth hundreds of millions and you would know who they were.

I encourage people to go to gameforge and check it out. If you hadn't heard of the company before you won't wonder why when you see the games on offer. I have heard of any of these titles. Right now, as I write this they have advertised about 181K people currently online. So that is about 1 out of every 1627 registered users is playing a game in what would assume to be a prime time for activity.

These companies put out these press releases for sucker investors. A tiny amount of digging and you find nothing worth talking about.
  • never even heard of gameforge, probably an Aisan thing

  • Is it free to play?
